I'm looking to put a electric fan on my 88 na rx7. I've never done this before so If someone could give me a correct step by step way of wiring it with a t-stat it would be great...

What do you need an e-fan for? Many experienced builders concur that the stock clutch fan cools much better than an e-fan, and the e-fan can cause a large load on the weak alternator system.

Well that's easy to answer. The clutch fans SUCK! That's what killed the mototr in the first place. Noway in hell I'm I going to run a 18 year clutch fan. Plus I have a fan that blows plenty of air. I also live in phx,az it gets DAMN hot here. That clutch fan would be blowing all the time. I wouldn't have NO power out of my motor. Besides I don't care about a 100 dallor alt. Id rather zap my alt then my rebuilt motor from azrr that cost over 3000. I have a new alt and optima battery.

I would like to just hard wire it. Could anyone give me some help on that?

Oh yeah plus I put in a koyo rad and did way with the stock shroud and fan.

Here's one way to do it.

So I just went down to my local performance shop and picked up a prewired relay and t-stat.

That was fricken simple!!!

So the ford v8 thunderbirds 2 speed electric fan cools the car very very good!

They SURE do drain the altnator to the point where the damn car is about to die on me.

So I'm either going to have the alt respun or try and find on with the same mounting points...

I was told that the stock alt are around 70amps. Rebuilding it I might be able to get 100 amps or more!!! Hopefully....

i hear the FD alts fit

Well that's what's in my plans. I have a local alt shop getting me one, but the only probem is that the pulleys are a different set up. So I have to figure out the wire connection and the pulley but should work.....but as far as mounting it goes, it bolts right up.. i ll keep posting and let it be known..... suppost to carry a 110+ amps.

Im running a 2nd generation ford taurus e-fan and its the perfect width but doesnt have quite enough depth. Its been lightly modded and let me tell you, it works alot better than the mechanical fan that came with it stock from the factory. Just be careful! I blew out an alternator within the first month using this fan because I had it on full power all the time when the car was warmed up. I just recently bought a 3 step switch to control the fans speed. Fixed the alt problems.

I put mine on a t-stat and have the high speed wire hooked up so it only kicks on for maybe 30 seconds but when it does it starves the alt.
