well i got to go run my car on a dyno today and get my air-fuel set//

woot

ill post the pics of the dyno sheet as soon as i can make it to kinko's to scan em in,

but i just wanted to let you guys know hwo i did.

max power 145.9 - 3rd gear

max torque 129.0 - 4th gear

i was hoping to see 5 or 6 more hp but im pretty happy with the results, now to have my injectors cleaned, put in a cold air box and try again

on the upside im not running near as rich as i was before.

also i got to watch a group of datsun and nissan Z's run before i went, so that was kinda fun. Plus, because i had to wait so long because he double booked by mistake, he cut me a deal on the cost, so all in all im a pretty happy camper

as i said, ill get the pics of the dyno sheets when i can make it to a kinko's

my bad, i posted this in the wrong part of the forum, please move me if ya could someone

little rotary 14 04-23-2005 07:42 PM

no problem about posting in the wrong place. good numbers https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

BigTurbo74 04-23-2005 07:53 PM

why make a run in 3rd gear instead of direct drive?

Lothema 04-24-2005 04:47 AM

best gear to make a pull in on the dyno

//

after some careful thought, loud shouting, and several obcenities, i came to the conclusion that guy i bought my car from lied to me about what all had been done to the car as far as modifications, either knowingly or unknowingly. Either he has strait out lied to me or there is something wrong with it.

correct me if i am wrong, but assuming that my car has full exhaust, intake cone, safc, 17lbs flywheel, and a big street port, i would think that those numbers would be a little higher at least, nothing insane, just higher than that. if i am wrong here then please correct me. i would love to be wrong, it would make me feel better if i am wrong, especially because there are other things that he said were already done that, if i am right, i now have to question whether or not are actually there

fc3s4utnv 04-24-2005 02:46 PM

Those numbers sound about right maybe enve alittle high for what you have described.

My 87 na pulled 101 when I first got it, it and when the new motor does go in we are looking at 130's.

kahren 04-24-2005 05:22 PM

do you have the AFR curve, hurry and get the sheet posted https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

those numbers are low a stock port s5 with full exhaust 2.5" should dyno around what you have dynoed

Lothema 04-24-2005 07:33 PM

ill have the sheet up as soon as im off work.. i wish my palm had a floppy drive i could use.

that would make things easier, lol

Lothema 04-24-2005 11:36 PM

ok here is the sheet

are your 6 ports wokring?

ROTARYROCKET7 04-25-2005 11:49 AM

i wanted to know, he has the Road Race RB exhaust. SHouldnt he have a lil more HP than taht?. RB claims 40hp? Those look like stocks numbers, but as he told me earlier. Its to the crank not to the wheels

Tessai 04-25-2005 02:31 PM

I second the 6port option. On my 90GXL, the most I've dynoed has been 115rwhp, this is with 2.5" header->presilencer->ypipe->ebay fartcannons. Turns out that my 6 ports were not opening, because when we unhooked the tube to the cats, the air was too free-flowing to open the ports it would seem. I wrapped a large bolt in electrical tape, and hose-clamped it in the rubber hose off the back of the intake manifold that normally would run to the cats. This was just a little bit ghetto, but I think it helped to unstick the ports, as it fell out a while ago and I still have power over 6.5k (where it used to drop off). I'd double check that they are working, if you have another dyno day comming up, see if you can wire them open for one run to see if the top end improves.

Lothema 04-25-2005 03:05 PM

yep, they, open all right

i watched em when he made the pull

they arent fully open till about 5 at WOT but, they do open

RETed 04-26-2005 08:08 PM

The engine isn't ported or the porting is very minor...

Street ported NA's should be making 150 to 160 on a DynoJet easily.

ya, thats what i thought, thanks for the info guys

well now i gotta figure out what all has actually been done to the car

damnit

kahren 04-27-2005 01:07 AM

even the stock car with exhaust should have better top end, your tq curve drops off too early

something is not right.

is the engine s5 or s4, intake manifold s5 or s4?

ambassador_josh 04-27-2005 06:24 AM

Dude what day was that, you should'a called me! Hopefully I can get my problems ironed out and dyno my car soon. Are you gonna dyno tune or seat of your pants tune? Should probably dyno-the average person doesnt have a very well calibrated ass https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Lothema 04-27-2005 11:13 AM

that was a sat last week, and it was tuned// was supposed to be in the morning, but i ended up having to wait till a bunch of z's ran before i could go

pretty sure it is a s5 engine, ill go check tho
