How much off the line difference in acceleration would you notice with a fairly light flywheel and driveshaft? Does it really make enough difference to buy them? I know you loose driveability with a light flywheel, but I'm good enough at stick to not stall the car, so I don't give a **** about that.

i've heard once u go light u'll never go back, everyone seems to like them alot, that is lightened flywheel.

yah, lightened flywheels are great. the middle wieght ones 17# are what the car shoul have had stock, so it feels normal. the lighter ones 10#, take a little getting used to

They're awesome!!

You'll never want anything else!!

What's about them that takes getting used to?

1Revvin7 11-18-2002 01:47 PM

depend on how light u go, i assum not long just have to relearn alitttle.

Just the ease in revving it. It takes a little bit to get used to the missing weight.

lightweight flywheel makes a huge difference, lighter driveshaft is not as significant since it's low orbit mass (the diameter of the driveshaft is very small, relative to say.. the flywheel).. the lightweight flywheels lose alot of the weight at the outer edge which reduces the polar moment of mass greatly, usually ~80% less than stock.

If u r looking to drag race then a light flichwheel = bad....... But if u are planning to autocross and gain rpms quicker then a light flywheel is for u. A heavier flywheel will store energy better and allow u to jump off of the line quicker and give u a better start but a light flywheel wont store that much energy making it a bad choice for drag racing. Gimme a few days until my aluminum flywheel gets broken in and I will tell u about how a 12# flywheel feels like.
