Ok, I just got off the phone w/ Roadkill669 who is heading down to the local track which is an 1/8th mile. I'm at work and can't go, so I'm bored and making this poll so he can see it when he gets back home. Following is the information on his car, and his current best time was 9.90 I think w/ an intake, gutted cats and S-AFC at 6.5psi.

His car setup as he runs tonight:

'87 T2...light weight reduction

No emissions

S-AFC

Gutted Cats

N1 Mufflers

ACT 6Puck clutch

Tokico nonadj. in rear

Efan

GReddy Type S BOV

fuel pump mod and TB mod.

He will probably run 10psi tonight...his old car (a '91 NA MR2 ran best of 9.40, so he's shooting to beat that)

What do you think he'll run??? BTW, its lower altitude and about 63dgrs

MazdaEnthused 10-02-2003 05:48 PM

i hope he runs record times

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 05:49 PM

BTW, I'm gonna call his cell at 7:30EST as he should have made at least two runs by then, lol.

hey..who posted the 10.5 & up?? he does better then that stock,lol...

I should have added an option that says "Nothing, his motor is gonna pop"...that would be my vote... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif

MazdaEnthused 10-02-2003 06:07 PM

no i hope his motor doesn't pop

1Revvin7 10-02-2003 06:15 PM

10.5 + up

MazdaEnthused 10-02-2003 06:19 PM

but why is this poll by the 1/8th ... why not 1/4

Probably because he doesn't have a 1/4 close to him..

vosko 10-02-2003 06:21 PM

i say 9.0

MazdaEnthused 10-02-2003 06:25 PM

then hes gotta do the 1/8th in like 7-8

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 06:37 PM

Yea, he just ran to the local track which is only 15min away...our closest 1/4mile is either VIR(2 hour drive) or MIR(1 1/2hr drive)....

I'm gonna call him now...

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 06:40 PM

Ok, he is in line right now...

hasnt made a pass yet, but he said he is running 11psi and is going to use his intercooler spray kit which sprays down his TMIC...he said on the way to the track it was getting 20d colder just sprayin a lil so that should help out...

I'll let you all know again in 15min...

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 06:58 PM

Ok, first run...wouldnt get 3rd gear so coasted 1/2way ran 10.00 getting ready for second pass...

side note a buddy of ours showed up w/ his old school '86turbo Z and made an 8.50 pass and then an 8.30 pass...last year it ran 7.80s...

MazdaEnthused 10-02-2003 07:00 PM

damn!!! count down... i vote he smokes that z

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 07:17 PM

Nah...that Z is a nice car...way more modded then roadkill's car...

Update: he just ran 9.90

I talked to a buddy of mine who is down there watchin and said that he is having problems hooking up off the line(6puck will do that i guess)...i await to hear at least a 9.80 something, maybe a 9.70 something...

RX7Aggie 10-02-2003 07:29 PM

i ran a 9.132 @ 78.6 last night, my mods are listed in my signature.

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 08:16 PM

Ok everybody..just called for the last time.

Roadkill669 ended up letting our other buddy(Rxxtacy on the forum) drive his car down the track since he is a better "get it out the hole.." kinda man. However, it was Rxx's first time w/ a puck clutch...the final time for the car with the new mods is...

9.56 @ 67.7MPH and a RT of .71

Looks like a few of you were pretty good guesers!

FCmaniac 10-02-2003 08:40 PM

That mph sounds low. Did he lift at the end?

Rotaryman88 10-02-2003 09:58 PM

Dunno...all he said is he felt he could have done faster cuz he let off a lil after shifting to 2nd(wheel hop bad) and then took off again..that may be the slower MPH too...

1988RedT2 10-03-2003 08:39 AM

Sounds like the car needs some tars (that's redneck talk for tires). Seems to me your closest quarter-mile track is Richmond Dragway, which I figure is just under an hour and a half from y'all.

BTW, my best 1/8 was 9.54 @ 77.5 mph, before turbo upgrade and boost controller. Hope to have some new numbers tonight!

relisys190 10-03-2003 08:53 AM

How in the hell am i running 9.8's all night long than... WITH AN N/A?? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

Mods are listed in sig.

-Markus

The obvious explanation would be superior driver skill. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

roadkill669 10-03-2003 09:16 AM

That sucked for me. My car should be in the mid to low 8's. I got fed up with the times so I turned the boost up and threw my second fuel pump on. Still ran a 9.5. WTF!!! Car felt good at the launch. Spun a little bit. I do not burn out so my tires were hard and cold, big problem there. Turbo brought it up to 16 psi, but was still running lean.

I have been doing alot of experimenting lately with my new fuel setup. I have the stock T2 pump with a 240sx pump t-ed in. I have a switch that allows me to choose the ECU to control the pumps (26 psi idle, 36 psi WOT) or full power (45psi)

The first pass I turned the pumps on and didn't adjust the SAFC. Running 11 psi and was a little rich. It started to lean out around 7K. So, then I played with the SAFC a little bit and ran another time. I had a horrible start. This was my first time launching with the 6 puck also so I was dropping it around 3K. Didn't work, so Rxx's decided to slip the clutch at around 35 and ease into the throttle. Spun a little, then hooked up. Ran a 9.5.

RotaryMan has been telling me that my fuel pressure is way off of stock. It should be around 45 or something. So, new fuel system has been added to my list before we head up to MIR November 1st.

FOr the people who read in to our post about the Top Mounts, THEY SUCK!!!! When I was sitting there in the staging lanes, saw 160 temps in to the motor. Damn heat soak. That was a big issue right there. I forgot to hook up my bottle heater also, so I only had 300 psi in the bottle. That was also hurting me.

I'm going to go again next Tuesdy and run an 8.5. No doubt about it. My car will have totally changed by then.

had no idea top mounts suck so bad... um... i was gonna say somthin but i can't figure out what it was ... i had no idea that there is so much to factor when it comes to racing a simple 1/8th

roadkill669 10-03-2003 10:53 PM

Well. I found out why my car ran like crap. I decided to take my upeer manifold off and play around some when I noticed that one of my primary injectors were leaking, so I put a new o-ring on it. Looked at my fuel rail and decided to have a look at the FPR. The little adjusting screw was missing. That would explain why I only had 36 psi of pressure. I also found that the coupling from the turbo to the intercooler was loose and sucking in air from there. So I fixed all of this and added my bottle heater.

All I can say is wow. With my 2 fuel pumps, I get up to 60 psi of fuel. It normally stays around 45-50. But I can now chirp 3rd. Thats on 10 psi. I wanna feel 16 again. That was a great ride when it did it without fuel.

They don't suck when your on the go. Heat rises and guess where the top mount is. I actually did a neat experiment this morning when it was 40. I let the car idle for about an hour. The temps were 183 in and 169 out. I then opened the hood and in about 5 minutes, the temps were 159 in and 112 out. So next time, I am leaving the hood open in the staging lanes and instead of the intercooler sparyer, use a little 35-50 shot.

MazdaEnthused 10-03-2003 11:31 PM

its all about pickin up on stuff you can do better next time
