Ive got power steering and wanna take out the pump, I like the highway feel much more stiff. But will nething go wrong with my steering components if I do??

NO. nothing will go wrong with your steering componants.

However after removing the pump you 'should' cap the lines that come from the power steering rack.

This way dirt cannot get inside of the rack and bind it. Or you could just get a manual steering rack.

I did not get a manual steering rack nor have i capped my lines :yet:

But i do recommend capping them. Just to be safe.

Also. on a side note. Do you lift weights or work out? at first the steering on your car is going to feel very heavy. I've had it this way for about 3 weeks and am just not getting use to it. It's very nice.

Good luck. Let us now how everything works.

I took my pump out and I hardly notice its gone. You should plug everything on the valve body and then run a tube from the fitting on one side of the rack to the fitting on the other side of the rack. You should be very happy with this setup, and it has a quicker ratio than a manual rack.

Looping them is also a good idea. The main thing you want to do it keep the rack from going dry inside and keep from getting crud in it. If you have taken the belt off but still have the pump attached then that is harder to steer than without the pump. With this setup, you are fighting to push fluid through a dead pump. When the pump is 100% off the steering should be easier on you.

I have the p/s without the pump, little 12" steering wheel, 225 Advan Int. up front. Many dumba$$es have said that this is next to unstreetable (tools on the "other" forum). Somehow I don't seem to have a problem steering the car even in parking lots. I'm only 5'10" at 170# and I'm not in that great of shape. You just get used to it. I didn't like the feel of the powersteering so I took itn out. I've never looked back. But that's just me. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

what year car do you have shiggyshaggy? I know my car completely turns off the power steering at 45 mph, so your highway feel if you have an s5 would not get any better.

I drove a little by just taking off the belt on my pump (to get an idea of what it's like, it was harder because the pump was still there), and it was too hard for me to want. I like being able to parallel park with only one hand, you could never palm it without a manual rack.

Ive got an 88, and I dont think the power steering quits after 45 mph. I took out the whole pump and looped the hoses. Bangin, Im lovin the tight feel on the highway, my car feels much safer and I feel like Im more part of the road. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif Thanx guys
