Shane.Trammell 09-07-2005 03:01 PM

the car didnt even turn over?

mail-man 09-07-2005 04:03 PM

yea it didnt turn on

Shane.Trammell 09-07-2005 04:04 PM

ok when you turn the key does the engine turn over and just not start or will it not even turn the engine over, like nothing happens when you turn the key

phinsup 09-07-2005 04:09 PM

The engine turned over, but didn't start is what I am getting. When you are checking for spark it helps if you can ground it out on something, the spark plug uses the engine block as the ground when it's in the hole, if you are just dangling it, then you won't see a spark.

That said, if you aren't getting spark, time to check ignition components, i would recommend a manual of some sort to walk you through the basic steps for checking the ignition system.

Shane.Trammell 09-07-2005 04:16 PM

yeah the fsm says to check spark take a new spark plug and put it in the wire. then hold the wire with some pliers or something with an insulated handle about 3 or 4 inches away from the block. you should see a blue spark.

how long has it not been starting and what did you do right before it stopped working. maybe its just flooded, that seems to usually be the case

mail-man 09-07-2005 04:34 PM

yea when i try turning on the car it trys to but doesnt start and its been like 3 weeks since i turned it on but i had to turn it off realy qiuck cuz one of my hoses poped off then it never started again so i thought it was flooded but i allready tryed to unflood it and it hasnt turn on so i dont know what to do now

Dramon_Killer 09-07-2005 10:32 PM

check your fuses.

mail-man 09-08-2005 02:48 PM

i got all new fuzes but the yellow ones old and my radio dont work no more so im like realy lost now ?

Apollorx7 09-08-2005 05:38 PM

So you put 4 trailing plugs in and tried to start it? If so I would get 2 leadings, that can only help.

Here is a page for some fsm's if you daont have one

http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory_service_manual/

From your last post it sounds like you only checked the fuses behind the foot rest, also check the ones in the engine bay.

If that doesnt help I would check everything from the plugs back

Shane.Trammell 09-08-2005 05:42 PM

dont worry abotu the plugs it will run fine on all trailings

mail-man 09-08-2005 06:33 PM

yea i got all new fuzes in the engine bay 2 how can i check if im geting any spark and wuts the oder for the wires like t2 t1 l2 l1 were do they go mine are like t2 is top back t1 is top front and l2 is bottom back and l1 is bottom front

That is correct, trailing on top leading on bottom.

mail-man 09-08-2005 10:10 PM

ok so then how do i check if im geting any spark?

89 Rag 09-08-2005 10:39 PM

use an ohmmeter and check the resistance of the coil(s), over 1 ohm means the coil is bad and needs replaced

Assuming the coils are in good condition you should next check the ignitors. Unless you have an igniter checker you will have to do it the old-fashioned way which can get you shocked, the following is at your own risk.

Hold the plug with an insulated tool and keep it close to a grounded out source in the e-bay while someone bumps the key for you, do one plug at a time and, if the car should turn over and run, shut it down immediately.

mail-man 09-09-2005 08:58 PM

ok guy i got to start but now it cuts off i dont think im geting gas to the motor i have to us starter fliud to keep it alive and so i think its the injectors are there a speical order from them like primery or secondery i dont know need help

Shane.Trammell 09-10-2005 08:09 AM

i wouldnt start with the injectors those are the most expensive thing to replace. you can test the resistance on the injectors before getting new ones to see if theyre bad.

if theres no fuel id start at the back and work your way forward, that means fuel pump, then filter, then pressure regulator, then maybe pulsation damper, then injectors.

does your car have a gas cap on it?

mail-man 09-10-2005 09:15 AM

whats a gas cap?

Shane.Trammell 09-10-2005 09:25 AM

this has got to be a joke

Mazda Man 09-10-2005 10:32 AM

[quote name='mail-man' date='Sep 10 2005, 06:15 AM']whats a gas cap?

That thing you remove, before you put petrol/gas in your tank. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

89 Rag I am confused... My Haynes manual and FSM say that the resitance on functional coils should be between .2 and 1 Ohm.

misterstyx69 10-09-2005 10:05 AM

if you got a haynes manual PAGE 124...that will let you know if youve got pressure...remember your workin with FUEL..be careful ...have you check any of the lines from the tank to the filter...filter new?is it on right?.I would have my face in the manual to look at what the parts of the fuel system are and how the work you never said when this whole thing started..just i have a problem did you do any thing before hand..was it fine you replaced something then it wouldn't start..any how my 2 cents.

rootbeerdragon 10-09-2005 11:18 AM

just your fuses, my car would shut off like that too becuz my fuses were on wrong... also could be a vaccum leak... do you have emissions??

matts86fc3s 10-11-2005 04:56 PM

check your fuel pump... that was problem... when i got my car it had sat for 3 years... i replaced the plugs then it would start and sputter but then die.... i replaced the fuel filter and primary injectors too just for hte ehll of it... but all it neaded was a new fuel pump really... pull back your rear carpet and youll see a square metal cover unscrew it and have someone turn the car over and feel the top of the fuel pump with your hand for vibration and listen for the buzzing sound it makes... if it does nothing or it kindof comes on and off then thats your problem.... you might want to also check the fuel pump relay before you replace the pump just to make sure it isnt the relay thats bad
