i have a 3 inch exhaust + a 3inch dump pipe

someone has told me the hks full exhaust systems i think its the hks super dragger will give me the a 40kw gain?

this sounds abit too much for a exhaust mod??

can someone tell me whats the difference in the japanese exhaust systems and the welded systems?

thanks

I'm not very familiar with the super dragger, but the populaur "40ks or 60hp" gain, is a typical promotion of tuner companies with the 2nd gen rx7's. The reason that you gain so much power with the exhaust modification is because your turbo is overboosting. Let's say instead of 5.6 lbs of boost now your at 7.5 lbs. The internal wastegate can't control the boost anymore due to the lack of back pressue.

The problem for you, is that your exhaust has already been modded. Cats removed and such. So if this dragger exhaust is the next best thing since sliced bread you might see a 5 - 10 hp gain over your 3 inch setup.

you did mean "downpipe" instead of "dump pipe" right?

Rotaman X 12-18-2004 09:00 PM

ohh ok so with the super dragger system i would be overboosting? thats how i would be gainin that 40kw?

right now my car seems to just stay at 5psi or spike i think?

dump pipe as in the pipe that is behind the turbo

Rotaman X 12-18-2004 09:03 PM

also i noticed people with japanese exhaust systems compared to people with welded exhaust systems the jap systems seem to be surprisinly quiet

i think my cat has been gutted isnt it better without a cat interms of performance?

mazdadrifter 12-18-2004 09:18 PM

hrm, well technicall you'd be overboosting right now because of your 3" exhaust. If you still have the cat, i'd replace it with a presilencer. A lot of places have them premade to bolt right up.

yeah if you notice the fine print on the 60 hp gain, it will say "over stock" because many other systems will give you the same gain in hp.

Rotaman X 12-18-2004 09:43 PM

so there is no difference in the two exhaust systems?

i would jsut like to know the differences

because i see people spend so much on them japanese exhaust systems and other bolt ons

There isnt really anything magical about japanese exhaust systems like GReddy, Apexi, HKS etc.. they just happen to be "mad tyte" because they are from japan. A 3" exhaust is a 3" exhaust.

pre silencer is just a type of muffler. Racing beat sells a nice one and it bolts right into the place of the cat. The pipe goes straight through, with stainless steel packing around it.

yeah the rb silencers doesn't do much for loudness but makes the tone of the exhaust a lot more acceptable.
