i just bought an 86 glx and have no problems with it other than a starting problem thats unpredictable as to when its going to happen. after turning the car off (sometimes for 10 minutes then sometimes for many hours) i will try ti start the engine and cant get it to crank. also i notice a fuel smell comming from the engine compartment like its flooded. the only way to get it to fire when this happens is to hook a battery charger up to it then continue to turn the engine over with the gas pedal pressed to the floor. after many attempts this will start the car. afterwards i have white smoke comming from the exhaust which i believe is excess fuel being burned. has anyone ever come across this before? as i said i just bought the car so i cant be sure of its last service history ie. spark plugs. if a plug is causing this problem what would be the tell tale signs when looking at the plug?
many many thanks to anyone who tries to solve this problem |
Welcome aboard, there are several topics discussing the issue, sounds like you have the "leaky injector syndrome" one of them is here Leaky injector topic
You can also "Search" for "leaky injector" posts over the past year and come up with some more... lemme know if they don't answer your question. |
Not (necessarily) plugging products, but you should read: http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-bleed.htm
(and there ARE other options - which other people will explain) Also read: http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-pulsation.htm to be SURE the car won't catch fire. |
LOL I beat you to it, I mentioned that in the FAQ post.... so I appreciate the link!!!
Thanks |
Whoops, guess I mentioned it in another leaky injector post!
