ok i found a 88 rx-7 for 1500 and the only thing wrong with it(that i know of) is the u joint but my dad says that the u joint would actually be a cv shaft. So this leads me to the question where can i get a cv shaft and how much will it cost?

You can't buy the u-joints separately. You have to buy the whole driveshaft. Check out http://www.mazdatrix.com/g4.htm .

Does your dad know that it'a a RWD car? It's not an axle that's messed up, right?

no i dont think my dad knows its rwd he doesnt know much about rx-7s im the big fanatic. About the axle im not sure if its messed up i just saw the add in the news paper and called the guy the only thing he sayed was messed up was the u joint but since you say that the whole driveshaft must be replaced then maybe this guy doesnt know a lot and some other **** is wrong with it too guess ill have to wait and find out when i see it tommorow hopefully it wont be to bad but if it is i dont mind its the only one ive seen for sale and ive been looking for a while now so im happy

Take it for a test drive and let us know what it does. If you are tossing a U-joint you will get lots of vibration on deceleration.

I agree with isamu. You need to drive the car.

CV joints are generally used on Front Wheel Drive cars. The RX7 has U-Joints. These are not replacable, but any decent driveline shop CAN replace them. I paid $120 for a custom driveline for my RX7 power Suzuki Sidekick. The shop made it very strong and balanced the whole thing when they were done.

CV Joints are becoming popular to the 4x4 world as it's a way to get steeper angles on the drivelines, IE: taller trucks, larger tires, without doing body lifts.
