The car is coming together; we're trying to push to completion before the end of this month before emissions testing begins. It seems slightly futile given I have to go to Louisiana this weekend for a poker tournament.

Anyway, my buddy Cam is working on the cage for my car. This guy is meticulous and has been professionally building race cars his entire life. The door bars will be swing out, you cannot see there is a cage in the car with the doors closed; he has the main hoop super tight around the interior of the car. With the plastic in place it almost looks factory.

He is also working on a custom exhaust for me; we are waiting for the mufflers to arrive.

What does that mean exactly, like the bars swing out on a hinge?

Yep, there will be a pin near the top of the bar and a hinge point near the bottom. My fat ass wouldn't squeeze in too well without it! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Is that SCCA legal?

We went through the SCCA guidelines and could not find anything that specifically mentioned the swing out bars as being illegal. I was told they are NHRA legal down to 9.90, which is when I would need to complete the cage into the engine bay anyway. They could be reworked then.

I'm trying to maintain a balance between race and street car, having to squeeze my 6'2" 250lb ass in that area daily would suck!
