Vaccum style, what usually goes bad on those units? Switch is functioning, it's got to be the actuator or the computer.

Any ideas? I scrapped it on my AE, but would like to have everything correct on the vert.

banzaitoyota 02-09-2005 09:53 AM

cruise control is for pussies!

j9fd3s 02-09-2005 10:29 AM

i have no idea, ive never had to fix the cruise control. id imagine its the thing under the hood.

the boxes are different between na the turbo

Seppuku 02-09-2005 10:47 AM

I never got to mess with one. Wiring was ate through on mine so i ripped it out.

Shane.Trammell 02-09-2005 11:12 AM

Yes it does

Cheers! 02-09-2005 11:45 AM

vaccum style? wtf? I thought they all measured off the speedometer. Maybe it's different for S4 cars.

I for one like the cruise control. I can set 120 kph... use the safc and my techedge wideband and run her at 15.5 : 1 AFR to max fuel mileage.

phinsup 02-09-2005 11:50 AM

Well it runs off the speedo, but the vacuum is used to make the adjustments. if that makes sense.

They are definetely different computers for na and t2.

It's strange, I don't really use it, but I want this car to be pretty strait up.

Shane.Trammell 02-09-2005 11:52 AM

im pretty sure there is a pretty good section in the fsm for the cruise

phinsup 02-09-2005 11:53 AM

I'm just pretty

I suppose we'll have to have a thong pose-off between you and 94t.

We should have a wet tshirt contest at the retreat though.

then it would just turn into a big sausage party

NA = vacuum servo.

Turbo = electric servo (so it can work under boost).

They rarely give trouble.

The most likely problem areas are the clutch & brake switches.

The diagnostic procedures are in the FSM.

phinsup 02-09-2005 12:11 PM

I was thinking though, if the clutch and brake switches are bad, unless they are registering as permemently closed, it would effect the cruise. I'll have to take a look at them.

sureshot 02-09-2005 12:26 PM

In my sig is a link to the on-line manuals.

Download the "body electrical" section & print what you need.

The S5 cruise control information starts on page 69.

The CC has it's own diagnostic system & can blink error codes.
