1Revvin7 03-14-2004 08:00 PM

Why can't companies make quality products for the fc3s? Sometimes I wish I was in with the fd crowd https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png .

dltreezan 03-14-2004 09:39 PM

Has your car been in a wreck? Is your frame bent? Or are the corksport fenders just crap?

Exact same thing I was thinking..

sidewinderx7 03-15-2004 12:34 AM

ive seen those fenders on a few cars and they looked nice and fit well. I wonder why they dont on that car?

dltreezan 03-15-2004 12:55 AM

car is perfect and no hit and for some reason they look like ass....ill go down to corksport tomorow since i work right next door almost, im sure its a simple fix maybe.

racerxtreme7 03-15-2004 01:00 AM

where is cork sport? and how much for the fenders?

Racer X 03-15-2004 02:04 PM

With some paint and a aftermarket front that car would look awesome. After you solve your fender troubles.

but did you see the fenders after many hours were spent making them look nice or were they simply slapped onto the car like they are in these pictures?

most the body kits i've dealt with are pretty much ass when you start, a body guy makes it look good in the end.

i.didnt.do.it 03-15-2004 02:21 PM

They'll look nice once they're fitted...

Is that 'glass?

Rob x-7 03-15-2004 07:37 PM

they are fiberglass, which means you cant tweak them like

metal fenders to fit the car.

on the other hand though you could do some bodywork on the fenders

to have them look perfect

We talking bondo? We talking about falling apart every couple years.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

im talking doing them the right way and having them fit

who ever said body filler has to be redone every few years?

maybe if your trying to fill in where the body molding

used to be, or your putting it on the bumpers to fill **** in, but

on fiberglass parts there is nothing wrong with some body filler.

if its THAT much out of wack you could trim and reglass, or you

could move the mounting points, there are a number of ways to

get them to work.

perfectly straight show cars are made one way- properly applying

and sanding bodyfiller from one end of the car to the other, its the

only way to get a car perfectly straight.

I thought you told me if I had my door handles shaved with bondo they would fall apart every couple years?

Probably if you just layed fibreglass over the door handle hole and then smoothed it over with bondo, yeah, you would. That's a big hole. You should weld it then smooth/sand it, then fill the tiny imperfections with bondo.

yeah, what he said

and putting body filler on fiberglass fenders versus metal parts

is a whole different ball game.

www.corksport.com

j200pruf 03-16-2004 01:56 PM

AT least make the link clickable, must of us are lazy http://www.corksport.com . Their actuall location is in Portland OR, only a 35 minute drive away https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

The all-new Cork Sport Wide-Body Fenders. These fenders not only reduce weight by the hand-laid quality fiberglass construction, but also add 30mm width of clearance to the wheel well. Also feature a stylish vent. OEM fitment. Appx. 5lbs each. -These are made to fit stock bodywork. Additional modifications may be required if used with aftermarket front facias (bumpers) and or side skirts.

PRICE: $375.00

dltreezan 03-17-2004 11:40 AM

they weigh in about four pounds compared to 11 pounds stock. I will have them fitted later when i do the rest of the body kit, and i am going to make the vent smaller.

i.didnt.do.it 03-17-2004 11:48 AM

Whats wrong with the vents?

RETed 03-17-2004 12:20 PM

How much did you pay for them???

Why does everyone think body kit pieces are supposed to fit perfect???

Man, you guys need to work at a body shop and do body kits all day long - you'd get pissed.

This is why it takes THOUSANDS of extra dollars to make everything fit well.

This is not really a backyard garage project by no means.

If you want perfect pieces, are you willing to spend $1,000+ per panel?

I didn't think so.

Rob x-7 03-17-2004 05:00 PM

the weight savings doesnt seem worth it to me

I guess the attraction of them would be the vent

that vents nothing and the extra tire clearance

dltreezan 03-18-2004 12:06 PM

it gives extra wheel clearance and to me the vent is too big. And they cost 375 i think for the pair

j200pruf 03-19-2004 01:56 AM

No for 2 Fiberglass Fenders, did noone notice my earlier post, it has teh price and the description from corksports site.

FrostRacing 03-19-2004 09:40 AM

If done right with the right type of filler it will hold up better than the fiberglass part you put it on. just get some kittyhair and go at it
