Im new to rx7's, so take it easy on me at first, my other cars a 93 probe gt. Does anyone on this board have the corksport, pacesetter( i just want it for the piping) or apexi catback? Im really intrested in the corksport for the price and fit & finish. If anyone has any comments on theirs id like to hear them. My 86 n/a came w/ a body kit ( im no ricer) and really needs larger wheels. What other cars aftermarket wheels will fit my 4 lug or what do i need to get to convert the hub to a 5 lug, any help would be appreciated

1Revvin7 11-11-2002 09:23 PM

do u have any pics of your car? Most nice rims that i know of are 5 lug but then again i don't know jack about rims. I have heard that the corksport exhuast is nice, and that pacesetter headers are crappy.

Muad'Dib 11-11-2002 09:39 PM

corksport is extremely loud from what have been told. pacesetter stuff is crap all across the board.

before you go getting rims, do a 5 lug conversion, reliability before looks is always good

the corksport is loud, i know someone with the tickets to prove it.

the apexi's are good quality and not too loud (if you have a main cat)

thanks for the info guys, ill probably go with the cork sport b/c im broke and with pacesetter headers. I know for probes that with a little prep work you can make the pacesetters just as good as hotshots or bosals with a little planing and a flexpipe for a lot less. I dont have any pics yet or money i should have both in like a month

j9fd3s 11-12-2002 02:50 PM

i would wait on the headers if you cant get the good ones right now.

i have had the Apexi N1 single on my 91 n/a for 3 years now. sounds great...not "too" loud, and looks very sleek...the corksport exits on the opposite side. but basically looks the same. good luck with your choice...

happy rotoring :bigok:

I had the corksport before getting the race pipe and it sounded great. Not overly loud but very smooth.

Jerk_Racer 11-29-2002 04:02 AM

I have the Corksport. Might be one of the first ones they made. I ordered it the same day they put it up on their site. I needed a catback pronto. Going without cats and tons of backfiring finally blew my canister up. For the money, you can't to better. Get a silencer tip for it if noise is an issue and take it out on the track. I had to drill another hole to have two bolting points for the silencer tip to keep it from flapping under WOT.

Jerk_Racer 11-29-2002 04:05 AM

I'll tell you what, it done blowed up good!!!

lxk199 11-29-2002 02:29 PM

I also have the Cork Sport and actually it's nto ould at all (then again I have a TII). I would think it would be loud on an N/A b'c it is 3" piping. I am ver pleased with the quality and look of the Cork Sport, and highly reccommend it

Jerk_Racer 11-29-2002 05:28 PM

Well, 99% of it is 3"i.d. The canister is like a Magnaflow in that it keeps the full diameter of the exhaust throughout it's length. But for a few inches at the beginning of it there is a 2.5" section that allows it bolt up easily to the stock exhaust I guess. Mine has been cut of and made into a full 3" pipe with a Magnaflow as a pre-silencer. With a straight through 3" turbo back setup like mine, it can get crazy loud. Under idle, it's very quiet with the two inline mufflers. WOT throttle is very, VERY loud. There's louder out there, but not many. The silencer bolt-in tip make it very civil.

The Blue Bomber 11-29-2002 11:18 PM

i was thinking of doin two of the corksport general app mufflers with some custom piping to keep the dual look that might not be too loud but its more expensive than the catback
