I have an 88 vert, and i live in vegas. I took a run to Barsto and back and had to refill on water twice each way this trip was in 100 degree weather averaging about 80 to 90 mph. Each time i saw the water coming out of the overflow acrost my hood and i would stop cool down the radiator and refill with fresh water and fluid. Yes i grew up out here so yes i do carry 2 to 4 gallons of water in my cars at all times along with oit and other emergency stuff( my trunk is always full). any ways i dont think its an acual problem with the car just the design flaws most cars have when dealing with desert temps. so i am loking for info on a larger radiator larger being thicker and some ways of getting more air under the hood and back out again.

thanks for any help.

That shouldn't be happening. You could have a bad coolant seal or a damaged iron.

Ducting is your friend...

YUP gotta agree. I raced mine in high heat (90+) with stock rad but electric fan. Survived fine... stop and go was dicey tho. Be sure the ducting and splash shields are right and find the stinkin leaks... drove me nuts.. Did add a larger radiator but not the cleanest fit with the air snorkel.. chased pinhole leaks forever... buy the coolant dye and like they said be sure it's an OEM Tstat with good sealing rubbers.. Gawd I hate that plastic housing! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

so your saying that i need to check my fan shroud and check for leaks in the cooling system. ok.

what about getting more cool air into the engine compartment and out again?

Well one can always louver the hood... but my car is built for specific SCCA racing classes and that Mod bumps me up into a class that is way more horsepower than mine is making right now. If not concerned about rules my understanding is the upper vents move alot more air. Makes sense to look at it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif
