So, after noticing a leak under my car... it appears that coolent is leaking from the oil pan. I know how crazy this sounds. When I try to start the car it also blows white smoke... So, this means that i've got some bad seals in the motor right? It won't start... And what do I need to fix the problem. I mean..I know it needs a rebuild, but what needs to be replaced when I do a rebuild to fix this problem?

coolant is leaking down from somewhere, and like dripping around the pan. maybe waterpump?

If it were leaking from inside the oil pan, wouldn't it be leaking a bunch of oil too?
|
if its leaking from the rear then the rear main seal is bad and you need to replace it. also if you blow out white smoke and it smells kinda sweet then you also have blown coolant seal. in my opnion i think your due for a rebuild

i think a bad rear main seal is the least of his problem. Do an oil change and see what the oil looks like. Also, there are coolant lines that run to the top of the rear engine housing, have a look at them while you are at it.
Since you are asking what to replace, i assume that you have never rebuilt one yourself. You might wanna call around and find a shop to do it for you... *ahem* a rotary shop... not just any engine shop. You might even wanna look around for a used one as a direct swap in. Rebuilds can be quite expensive depending on what your housings look like. |
