heres my problem or what i believe is a problem.. im aware that i have a small coolant leak at one of my connectors.. my coolant overflow container always stays at the FULL level mark but the actual fluid level is LOW.. its very simple but hard to explain..overflow container lies to me pretty much.. haha

I suggest you fix the coolant leak. Fluid from the overflow is drawn back into the system by vacuum as the fluid contracts only if the system is airtight. If you have a leak, then air will replace the leaked coolant, and there will be no suction to draw from the overflow.

You need to find that small leak.

Sometimes you can smell out a leak before you can see it.



The common places to look/smell:



The radiator cap.

The water pump weep hole.

Radiator & heater hoses.



Hidden places to look:



The heater hose that goes into the rear plate just below the oil filter pedestal.

Oil drips from filter changes slowly deteriorates the hose.



There is a 3/8” coolant line that goes from the firewall side of the TB, down under the UIM.

The heat under there will cook the hose after 10 years.

Then it gets brittle & cracks.

It’s part of the cold start warn up system.



The heater core.

If you smell coolant inside the car, or you windows seem to fog up a lot.

when i purchased the car a while ago, the owner which was a 50 year old guy which seemed to know what he was talkin about told me it was a small leak comin from a banjo clip or connector.. he said it was leakin from that very slightly.. i never fixed it bc i never know where it was located..thank you for the replys.. i will get outside and check all ot those ideas right after sineibe tells me if what i just said could be it.. thank you guys.

Okay my car as well is now getting hot while driving? I have already replaced all the hoses thermostat, radiator cap, 40 % zerex g-05 with 60 % water? the only other thing I can think of is the water pump, but I dont want to replace it bc in the next month or so I am putting a new motor in the car. Just wondering if anyone could think of anything esle I need to check?

you might want to check youre fan clutch,my car is overheating driving around town as soon as i get on a highway the temp goes down to where it should be.i found out my clutch fan was not working .i am unable to find an aftermarket 1 and the oem's are expensive .

whats hot? maybe its just running warmer now thats its getting hotter outside

Yah, temps in the 90's, A/C on, and a 15-year old partially clogged radiator will make for a hot engine.



Check coolant level, fan clutch, and belt tension. In my experience, water pump failure is first noticeable when coolant comes streaming out the weep hole on bearing failure.

my car was not overheating if anyone is still talkin about my post..i need to know where the banjo clip or screw is located.. can anyone help me

Ive checked all that, Im replacing the water pump friday, just to be on the safe side.
