for anyone that owns a 88-91 rx7 convertable, does anyone know the size of the speakers in the headrest. I've been wanting to know for some time without having to take the leather of the seat to look https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

In the 89 manual its on page T-109...a diagram anyway,

no indication of size, 2"x 3" is about right though

Just force a 10mm socket down to the nut in the seat back from the back side and take the headrest off, so you can unplug the speakers, then put the headrest back on.

They are worthless in the stock form, and become really annoying if you try to put some custom set-up in there, too much time making something that will fit and then way too loud once the system is up and running again, speaking from personal experience, of course.

instant headache, and they drown out all the other sound too!

And to correct myself the socket could be a #3 philips head screw too, and it may be accessed from either the front or the back, sorry for any confusion.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif its ok guys. Just curiosity hit me when i thought "how small are the speakers". I'm just glad i got rid of the stock speakers for something better.

they were a novelty for about a week. then they got old. then I rewired the whole stereo for my custom setup and didn't run anything to them, then I put my new seats in!!

I wonder what would have happened if I had run wires from the aftermarket cd player to them? could they handle that much power or were they the like 5 or 6 watt rated ones?
