Ive been fighting with this t-04e for a little while now and i just cant seem to keep the boost levels reasonable. Ive even tried blocking the wastegate open to vent as much exhaust as possible and boost levels are still out of control, over 10 psi around 4-5k in second gear at full throttle. Next to porting the wastegate, which i think would be an extreme pain in the ass, what else can i do to deal with this? I think some backpressure might help a little since the car is running straight pipes. Think maybe a stock or a hiflow cat would restrict flow enough to put a dent in something like this?

Are you sure it's hooked up properly?

i dont see how else it could be hooked up. maniflold, turbo w/ integrated wastegate.

blocked the wastegate in the open posotion by removing the actuator arm. it sees less boost in first gear with it blocked open, but it doesnt take much for it to get out of hand.

seems like a fairly poor design, wastegate ports werent much larger than the stock ones and the turbo is about 50% larger. maybe the thing ought to be venting properly but i got a bad casting or something.

Ok try this. From what I'm reading you have an internal waste gate. The internal waste gate as we all know actuates from sensing boost pressure. If I'm correct there should be two vacuum lines that connect to your turbo. One goes to your compressor and the other goes to your waste gate atuator. You need to make sure these lines are going to the correct spots. If they are not they will surely keep your waste gate from actuating when it is supposed to. The other solution to your problem is to get a boost contoller. You can go cheap and get a manual one or you spend some good cah for an electirc one that you can control from inside your car. The boost controller will surely take care of this problem. I hope this helps.

yea, its an internal wastegate. the system is just about identical to stock, and the problem is not getting the wastegate to open, its that when its open it doesnt flow enough to keep boost down below 10psi. thats what im looking to cure

Well then my solutions are out. The only thing I can think to do is port the fucker and call it good.

thats what i was thinking. what a pain in the ass
