I purchased a new stereo to replace the previous Alpine unit that was originally in the car. Everything appears correct in that the other owner rewired around the amps, but for some reason I can not find a wire for a constant voltage source from the battery. To make things difficult the other owner decided to cut the wiring harness.

I have no problem finding the other wire that switches the 12v from the ignition.

I have three wires left over that neither have a constant 12 volts or that I can identify:

Blue/Yellow

Red/Black

Blue/Red

It does not appear that any wires have been cut, so does anybody have any suggestions as to what is wrong.

If I have to run another 12volt wire where is the easiest location to feed off of?

88 Vert

I just rewired my vert and i cant recall the color of the constant, if its not there then not sure but there might be a source in the fuse block you can draw power from look and see.

grab yourself a test light ground it and test al the wires wile the cars not on if all else fails run hot from battery or ignition harness

Run to the battery or grab a multi-meter

if you cant find constant power your fuse is blown, check if the lighter, horn and interior light are working, I believe one or all are on the same cicuit.

i dont know if the constant 12v would be on the room fuse circuit, its only 7.5A...but i would check that room fuse anyway that bastard likes to blow.

what i did with my buddy's honda when i couldnt figure out the wireing was this

[attachment=28906:attachment]

i put the constant and ignition together to the battery and flushed in a kill switch for the power, and it works great.. the wireing was a mess and i couldnt find the ignition wire even when i owned it and i had three decks in there.. this is by far the best thing i came up with https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

its not that hard to find a power lead, alot of people blow the fuses when poking around with the wiring so they cant find it.

there is no need for switches and running wires to the battery

teknics 03-01-2005 04:53 PM

yea, you just need patience and a test light.
