Well I have a compression tester and I want to do a Check but I'm not sure what to do is there a site that will show me how to do it?

I'm writing you to tell you that I followed your compression check advice and can honestly say you gave the wrong information. Shoving "the thing in the hole" only ended up making me have to get stitches in my ass. I ask you to please refrain from posting information that is misleading.

Remove the egi fuses, block open the throttle, hook compression tester to trailing plug holes and crank over.

ok I'll go and do a check but I'm just wondering my car stalls when i turn it on from a cold start and also when I turn on the AC also the rpm is erratic could this problem be form low compression?

i doubt compression would be the problem if it only happens when you turn on the ac, thats prob something with the bac, maybe a vac problem or something

First I warmed the engine. Then I pulled the green fuel relay. I also disconnected the big grey plug below the cruise control cable controller, which is behind the battery.

The needle bounced consistently at 95psi for both the front and rear rotors. If you have two needle valves on your compression tester then you need to remove the on that is at the end of the hose that screws into the spark plug hole. Not the one just below the guage or you'll get really low readings. My compression tester just screws into the spark plug holes finger tight. Even with an O-ring there as a seal, I'd imagine some pressure is lost out where tester screws into the hole. If I loosen a pipe fitting on my air-compressor to finger tight, then run 95 psi through it, it leaks air rapidly. So I wonder about my results. Go find someone that has a MAZDA ROTARY compression tester. Bc if you look in you FSM (if you have one) almost everything related to engine problems says.... check compression. Rotary's use a different compression scale then piston engine cars.



I did what you guys are talking about on my FC and it bounced high 80's low 90's, get to someone that has a comp checker and it turned out real bad, two chambers had zero comp. So save yourself the headach and go to a Rotary specailized shop and pay them to check you car out, unless you want to spend 1600 dollars on the comp checker from MAZDA.
