i have a stock manifold right now with custom 2.5inch back to single apexi muffler,

i want to go completely dual, and my thought is get a mazdatrix uncollected header

$200 and make custom piping back to dual mufflers(undecided)

does that sound like a really good idea? im tired of my stock manifold eating up power

TIA

With a n/a do you really think you will see significant power gains with a dual exhaust?

Also, don't n/a engines need some backpressure in order to make their power, I was under the impression that freeing up the exhaust too much can actually lose you some power.

you were misguided, free flow is always better, it needs back pressure to actuate the 5th and 6th ports, but i had removed my sleeves so it doesnt bother me

i c

If thats the case, then go for it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

wow thats going to be loud

hope you dont mind getting pulled over for the exaust, maybe

the ticket wouldnt bother you, but you might be in the situation where getting pulled over isnt a good idea. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

No to much free flow, and you will loose the scavenging effect, and that will kill your HP. I'll link the thread from RX7club it has alot of good info. But I made my own true dual bottom exit exhaust, and it was really ******* loud, and it killed alot of low end torque. But the gains in high end power were unimagineable, I about wrapped it around a teliphone poll comeing out of a driveway when I first floored it with the exhaust that I built.

But as long as you stay around 2 in exhaust tubing (no bigger on stock port size) you will have a good setup.

There is the thread that I was talking about, it is very long but has a ton of information if you are building your own exhaust. And will help you understand how it needs to be and why.

And if you have to register to read that thread, DO IT.

wow, that's a great thread.. makes me want to experiment and build a custom exhaust

That's what I thought, but I've been corrected before, and wasn't completely sure I remembered that correctly. Thanks! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
