Hey I have looked but couldn't find a way to remove the cold start so it doesn't go to like 2ks for 5 minutes. Anyone done this yet?

start it in gear lol

Lothema 03-10-2005 11:22 AM

ive tried that and mine doesnt seem to care if im in gear or not, it wants to warm up in a hurry

why did mazda want to try to heat the car up faster than it should

it scared the **** out of me when i first got my fc// went up to about 3.5 and i thought there was something wrong with the engine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

hmm mine don't rev up starting in gear https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif lol yesterday I took my mom to the store on a cold start and shut off the car while she was inside, when she was getting back in the car a ladie with her little daughter (about 4-6yrs old) were walking behind my car as I started it.Anyways the little girl jumped a screamed mommy running up to her mom. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

once mine has warmed up i can shut it off and turn it back on and it wont rev up but if the engine has had too much time to cool it will rev again, its not a big deal, just tap the gas to get it to stop but still annoying//

that is a good question tho, how do you turn off the advanced warm up setting?

and i can only think a few times that it is not fun to scare small children... hehehe

tap the gas when it starts.

Mazda did this to meet U.S. emissions requirements. The high idle right after starting serves to warm up the precat and reduce emissions. There is a fairly easy way to defeat it, if I remember correctly, but I forget what it is.

Of course, you could always install an aftermarket ECU.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I wish I had the cold start. LOL. I have to hold my foot on the accelerator for a bit until she warms up!

Yeah, mine can be a bit tough to keep running too. I think the cold start fuel enrichment map needs more fuel.

sureshot 03-15-2005 01:07 PM

I just add fuel on the S-AFC low map, low speed setting.

Then I lean it back after a minute or so.

For some that may be a PITA, but it gives me something to do.
