you can't.. why you would take the shroud off unless you have an e-fan with its own shroud, I have no idea

by hot air, I just mean underhood intake as opposed to cold air (ambient air) such as fenderwell, in front of rad, etc.

you can, but the stock airbox is whats restrictive, not the filter, so youre not really doing yourself any good.

just because you do a job yourself doesn't mean it will turn out bad and look jerry rigged. just use the right tools, and dont rush through it, and you should have a nice setup.



anyway, if a seller did make a true cold air setup, you could expect to pay $200-300 for it, which is not at all worth it. i know mariah motorsports makes a cold air box, and i think it's like $220...and i imagine our's works better than that one anyway.



i think your best bet will be with either the fender well or front radiator mounted air box. my ass-dyno give me good readings, especially on cool nights. 1st and 2nd have that "fresh, just started the engine up and the engine bay is still cool" feeling. 2nd especially when you get that air moving. nopstns7 just finished his CAI like mine, and said "thanks for the info, i rented the tools and did the setup today and man does she ever pull in second now. thanks again and great idea." FCManiac said his pulls harder, too. personally, i think a cold air box is a waste of money and time, stick with true CAI.

however, i would avoid the extra $150 for the K&N cone filter. autozone sells spetra cone filters for $20, and they have them in 4 colors. they look and perform just like the K&N, and cheap enough to change the whole thing instead of cleaning
