Are s4 and s5 clutches the same? Is the disc the same if not everything else? This is for a turbo II.

Really? I have an S5 clutch on my car and haven't had any problems with it.

j9fd3s 07-21-2003 10:15 PM

me too, but i'm not sure you can go the other way

But with the matching pressure plate it would work, correct?

Cheers! 07-21-2003 11:29 PM

wtf? i thought the pressure plates, discs and release bearings and pilot bearings are all the same.

**** then i have a S4 TII disc in my S5 TII car. I know this because the disc won't go all the way to the edge of the pressure plate or the surface or the flywheel.

****.

oh well.

At least you know why now. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

I'm gonna check mine when I get home from work now.

The s4 and s5 clutches are a different size for sure, Miek and I were just discussing it a few days ago, the s5 t2 clutch costs me about twice as much to get as the s4, which is eve stranger. I think you can use the s4 on the s5, but not the s5 on the s4 because the disc will more then likely end up being too big, but not 100% sure.

i believe it is, although ive never compared. the 1st gens have a similar issue (215mm vs 225), and the pressure plates are the same

i think they are the same...

anyhow... i think the clutch discs are interchangable...

I remember Rob at pineapple was doing a group buy on his special discs and they were interchangable between all the years of TII

also when u goto Racing beat and u order their clutch disc, they use the same disc for 87 to 95 rx7 turbos

Also racing beat sells their street/strip pressure plate and it's listed for 87 to 92 rx7 turboIIs

also i remember when i ordered my clutch kit from capclutch.com they said they are all the same. (btw capclutch are rebuilt daiken cltuches, their HP versions are)

also i think i have a S4 release bearing in my S5 car.

It fit and works.

it came with my clutch kit. Btw was i suppose to lube the release bearing somehow? i never did and just stuck it on and installed it...

please tell me i didn't do another OH **** WAY TO GO JASON! move

j9fd3s 07-22-2003 02:15 PM

i think when its the same for 87-91 they give you the 89one. i also think the release and pilot bearings are the same anyways

mike

mac_dad6 07-22-2003 06:29 PM

they are different sizes but you can you either one in either car. alot of clutch companies only sell one kit for both series
