driving home today i found that my clutch sticks to the floor if u hold it down while waiting at a light. if shifting it acts normally but it only acts up wen u hold the clutch down. i was wondering if this is the clutch pressure plate or the master cylinder or slave.

i have the exact same problem. i diagnosed it. i'm leaking clutch fluid. i need to get around to fixing it, but as of now - i just add brake fluid in every now and then. my FSM diagnosed it as the pedal needing lubrication, so perhaps that may be something you want to consider? best of luck.

actually its my problem, my friend posted this for me. I checked my clutch fluid, and it was very low, i added fluid, and bled the system, but it does the same thing... i will try lubing my clutch petal, but i think it has to do with the master or the slave cyl...

generally the slave likes to go out on these cars rather commonly. it might be a very slight leak at the slave so when shifting normally it doesnt do it but when you sit on the clutch it bleeds enough out that the slave retracts itself.

heres a test...find the slave cylinder (follow the line from the clutch master if you dont know where it is, but its right on top of the trans, drivers side) Now have someone sit in the car and work the clutch pedal so you see how it moves. Now have them hold the pedal down, watch to see if the slave's piston retracts and lets that shifting fork (the thing its pushing against) move back the opposite way.

If it does your slave is shot.

If your slave works find I'd start considering it to be an internal leaking master cylinder.

The parts arent that expensive, well i get 50% off so it might be like $150-200ish for the slave and the master. My slave went on me at 2am on my way home, luckily i know how to shift without using the clutch so i got home, then went to work the next day and just swapped the master and slave for rebuilt units https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

lol care to share with the rest of us the secrets of shifting w/o the use of a clutch? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

easy at around 3-3.5k the "gates" in a transmission open up.

the only dangerous part is starting the car.

easiest way to learn is go on the highway, get in like 3rd gear, accelerate to say 3.5k, maybe 3.25krpms now dont touch the clutch, pull the stick out of 3rd and press it against where the stick would sit for 4th gear, put some presure on it, but dont go grinding the gears.

If you hold enough slight pressure there while the motor drops about 500rpms the stick will suddenly pop right into 4th gear.

Once you know how it feels to do it you can teach yourself how best to do it, as its more something you learn then you can be taught.

i can completely drive my car without using the clutch.

Oh and if you come to a traffic light keep downshifting till you get to first, then pull up the ebrake and give the car just enough gas to not stall out, when light turns green release ebrake and away you go.

i had to drive an rx7 back from about 45 minutes away that a friend bought, the slave cylinder blew out maybe 5 minutes into the ride. and then of cours ei had my own personal occurance like 2 days before i was going away on vacation.

i know i'm not the author of this thread - but i just realized that i had a hole in the flexible tube that connects the master cylinder to the slave cylinder. and i wanted to ask (teknics specifically) if i swap the hose out with another one, will i have to air bleed the slave cylinder? let me know! thanks in advance. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png
