I'd polish, It way more of a pain in the ass. But anything happens to it you can always

buff it out. I know lots of other guys with Chromed valve covers and stuff they look awesome, but tend to get "scratchy" looking?

Chrome isn't really expensive. . . Hmmm. . Now I can't decide on my choice!!

I see your dilemma.

to chrome you have to polish first. when u chrome every little scratch will show up so it has to be right. you can polish and then get it powder coated or painted clear. that would make it a much tougher surface that would stand up better. polishing will scratch easier than chrome and also gets dull looking alot easier. oh and good luck finding a place that will chrome aluminum. it is alot more hazardous than chroming steel and alot of places are getting away from it. if you can't find a place let me know and i'll look it up on the thomas registry for a place near you

i heard the polishing retains less heat than chroming so if you want to take that into your desicion

I have been using a chrome place forever, it is the the the only thing they do, last job I sent them was my boat parts and they turned out INCREDIBLE, doesnt comapre to polishing AT ALL and MUCH easier to maintain then polishing. Polished stuff looks good for about 2 weeks, then you have to constantly keep polishing it to keep it looking good.

I live on the water and getting the lips of my rims polished was almost a waste of time. I have to re-polish them when I want them to look good because of the oxidation from being about 60feet away from the canal behind my house. They have never looked as good as when I first got them polished, I really feel like I wasted my money, I shouldnt have to take a 1/2 hour a rim just to polish the lip.

Chrome on the other hand requires only a coat of wax now and then to keep nice.

They usually have a minumum order so if you want to get **** chromed, go get a estimate first and save your pennies and get it all done at once.
