Last friday at ILP Performance we gor bord and pulled my car in the shop and put it on the lift. All I wanted to do was remove my mufflers and replace them with a piece of pipe and a shinney tip welded on the end for now.

They said if i was going to do anything I was going to do it rite! I took there suggestions and strated cutting and welding pipe. I'll get pix later but we ended up with a straight pipe out the back with no muffler (for a week till the one we ordered came in), an intake that flows better, I welded my 6 port actuators open, and got rid of the air pump.

It all costs about $300. After we were done I took it for a ride, IT WAS LOUD AND FAST AS HELL!! I got someware around 65 horse power out of it and it put me back in the seat around 6k. When we got the muffler I lost about 30% of the power but it was worth killing the noise, I was scaring the children.

I'll get pix so everyone can see exactilly what I did. And like I said, I did all the work my self with the help of the crew at ILP, they are thinking of making the exause and selling it to who ever is intrested, I don't know the cost of the full set up made to order.

Any how my point was that to do those simple things you could turn a stock fc3s in to a rocket for minimal cost. Have fun and drive safe!! :bigthumg:

And for those that are thinking of getting ILP Performance to make this exaust, It is strictily for off road use only!! How ever you use it is you're responsibillity.

Hi-flow catilitic converters and mufflers can be added for an additional cost to make it street worthy.

Iluv88 made some boost controllers the other day when he was bored. Slapped that baby on my car, boosted up to 11psi and i gained a very substantial amount of power. I even pulled on a 3rd gen, which i was very proud of. All in all, cost me nothing. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Im gonna turn it back down though for now, i went through $20 in gas in about 3 hours... :(

watch out.... keep it under 10psi.... there is a reason my TII broke.... its called running too much boost LOL

I forgot to mention, my 7 is a N/A. No turbo.

is that your guess, or did u dyno it? 65 hp on an n/a is highly doubtful from just a straight pipes.

pengaru 10-28-2002 08:48 AM

yeah thats a high hp # for just exhaust, i'm guessing this is the seat-of-the-pants dyno, which is directly influenced by how much personal time+effort was invested in the mod... DIY exhaust always sounds like it has more performance gains than when someone mentions buying an RB header, presilencer, Y pipe, and mufflers and says there was a nice performance gain... I'm guessing it's just wishful thinking trying to justify all that bending and welding...

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

now if you want a real 65+ HP gain with little cost on your NA.... wet shot :smirk:

although, maybe he got 65HP because his cats were clogged or pipes kinked from bottoming out on a curb, or perhaps the aux ports werent opening at all before and now the top end actually has the stock power back, but the low end more of a dog than ever https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

My thoughts EXACTLY.

65 horsepower on a N/A without going into the engine or nitrous or a supercharger is impossible.

Tell your freinds to patent that pipe and they could be millionares!

Rotaryman88 10-28-2002 06:33 PM

I dunno...65 HP at the flywheel is probably obtainable w/out cracking into boost or the block....I'm a firm believer in tuning, and i'm sure w/ full exhaust, bored tb, cia, fpr and safc you could tune about 65 hp at the flywheel...roughly 40rwhp out of an na...although i've yet to see it, lol...
