Hey whats up.

So im putting in a new speedocable. The cable that goes inside the speedo enclosure got lost when it came undone from the tranny. So i had to get teh whole thing from Mazdatrix. So i disconnected the cable from the tranny so i can have more leverage behind the gage cluster. I disconnected the speedo cable from teh cluster and am in the process of pulling it out.

Now it wont come out that easy cause of the clip, but i see that theres a white wire going inot the back of the cluster but its not connected to the CLUSTER. So what is this wire.

I have no time to trace the wire right now cause i gotta be out and it looks like its gonna rain. I just want to know what that wire is. So that when i go to put in the new cable i know what its for and how not to damage it. Lol

Here are some Pics

I have never seen a wire there before. It looks like someone used that to run a wire in to the cabin. Did you find where it goes? If anything, I would cut it and then solder it back together when you install the new speedo.

Or, cut it and see what doent work. Ive never seen that before. And i dont think the factory would run 1 single wire like that.

yea, previous FC owners tend to like to run random wires around the car... I still find some 2 yrs after buying mine that get yanked out

I cut it car does not start now. I followed the wire under the dash and i lost it under the steering column. Its bunched together with a whole bunch of other wires and ziptied together. So i followed the wire under the car and it appears to be going into the starter. Now i know everyone on two forums keeps saying it doesnt belong there but my car doesnt have an aftermarket alarm system and no signs it ever had one. Now i can just connect the friggin wire and make it work, but i want to know why its there.

Hmm

Reconnect the wire https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Perhaps the previous owner did some wiring and miswired the ignition switch or something??

HAHA cmon, you should know never to cut anything unless you know exactly what it is and does.
