Hi .....heres the scoop.....

Me and my friend are thinking of changing his auto GXL ('86) to a manual. Since hes thinking of getting a supercharger later on is it better if we just convert it to a turbo II tranny ( get the t2 parts )??......also what do u ppl think of the Camden superchargers for the 13 b's?...i dont want to carberate his engine ----- do u think an upgraded fule injection system will be too expensive?.

RSVP with advice on the tranny.parts i will need and suggestions about the supercharger.

Also how do u find out if ur engine if a 4 port or a 6 port?

That is a lot of work and money to get where you could pretty be if you just bought a T2. But yes to answer your question I would get the whole T2 drivetrain.

Yea I understand that, I was referring closer to the end product. Meaning you are going to put a ton of money into a car with a Supercharger that will produce how much HP?

Seems like a lot of work for something that will closely resemble a T2 in performance... just a thought. You are going to spend $2500 on a supercharger that will increase hp "30%" when you could buy a t2, spend half that on an upgraded or even less on a hybrid and blow the doors off the superchared model. Plus no drivetrain swap, no carb/FI swap and a shitload less work.. but that is just my opinion.

the thought of getting a nice T II has crossed mind---- but its his first car ever and hes kinda sentimentally attached to it.......its hard to explain....plus it gives him a chance to rebuild it...ie work on his car

Tell him to get over the sentiment and get a running TII, I estimate if you even take on such a project, the car would be lucky to be running in 6 months, if it ever ran again period. You will probably dump close to $5000 into it, not to mention the amount of hours in research and mechanical hours working on the car, finding a kit, converting to carburator, drivetrain issues, fuel delivery issues, and still not be emmisions legal. Oh but the results will be worth it, youll end up with 200 hp instead of the stock 146. Take the advice of those who have been there, and get something else if he wants to go faster.
