okay so a year ago I drove the car to the store and when I came back out the car wouldnt start. It eventually started and I got the car home. Took it to a mechanic and he said the engine was blown. I don't believe he knows much about Rx7s so I dont believe him.



I let the car sit for a year because I didnt have the money to mess with it and now im trying to figure out the problem... It will turn over and turn over but it doesnt fire. I checked allt he spark plugs and they were all getting a spark and Im not sure where to go from here. Occasionally you can get the car to start up and it will go through the process of 3500 rpms then drop down to around 1k rpms and stay there and idle fine.



But you can't get the car to consistently start everytime,



One of the times I got it to start was because I sprayed ATF in the intake Im guessing, I hear that seems to help



What should I do?



Oh I also checked the ECU to see if the injectors were getting power and they were.

Sounds a bit like blown coolant seals.

any loss of coolant or instant pressure in the system or leaking from underneath? for mine it was all of the above

It doesn't seem to be overheating and theres no liquid underneath

For the record NEVER USE ATF FOR ANY LONG PERIOD OF TIME.. It will eat away at the rubber o rings used to seal the housings and the o rings used in the oil seals. Yes it may de-flood your car but if left in for a long period of time it will "blow" but for correctly used term eat away at your o rings and be in need for a rebuild.

The seals and materials in an automatic transmission are different than those in the working chamber of your engine. This is why there are so many complaints that sound like "I did the ATF trick a week ago and now my car smokes and burns oil". This is bad, and can only be cured by replacement of the seals, which of course requires disassembly of the engine. Since the ATF trick is most often used on marginal engines to try to increase the performance, problems are fairly common. To check for coolant seal failure, look for white smoke from the exhaust, loss of coolant and if the coolant bubbles while running.



Taking it you have an S5 from the 91 na in your profile, Is there a check engine light? If so pull the codes http://howto.globalvicinity.com/gv_w...i=50&co=1&vi=1



Also used the same oil you put into your car to de flood it. If you need to start it use starter fluid into the intake.
