hello, my rx7 was running perfectly and i was low on gas, the needle was touching the E but i never ran out, i got home and when i went to leave again the car woulf not start, i went to the trunk and pulled out a line from th fuel pump and i put a bottle there and cranked the car, fuel filled into the bottle, so mu fuel pump is good, i was maybe thinking that when i ran low on gas, all of the dirt at the botom of the tank went through and cloged my fuel pump, is there any way i can check if this has happened? what other problems could have occured

Nah man, haha , ur just flooded. Go under the hood, on the drivers side strut tower there is a fuse box, pull the green egi fuse, crank ur car with it out for about 15-20 seconds, plug it back in and start the car.

if gas came out of the tank, then the pump works

if we knew that, no rotary car would ever flood again. did i mention we get like

2-3 rx8's a week towed in flooded?

The fuel in the lines just drips out of the injectors for some reason. This happens especially if you park on an incline with the front of the car lower than the rear. Do the fuse trick and check

well, its on my driveway where the front is higher than the rear, i have been driving it and leaving it overnight and no flooding occurs, how com when i leave it for 1 hour, it floods, i tried pulling the fuses and the car doesnt even attempt to start

mesallem 04-17-2005 07:47 PM

i mean it attempts to start but before when i unflodded my engine, i can hear the engine trying to start, but now it cranks as before i tried to unflood it

Sometimes you have to do the unflooding trick a couple times to get it unflooded

It does it after an hour because you have an injector leak. The reason it starts after sitting all night is because the fuel has evaporated by then. You need to either get new injectors or put a switch on your fuel pump so you can fire it up when it floods.

The fuse trick sometimes takes awhile to work. When I put my exhaust in I let the car sit for 5 hours with the front end down. When I tried to start it it was flooded. Actually wound up removing the plugs and cleaning the fuel off of them and then turning the motor for a good 20 sec ( I have a pump switch ) before it finally turned over.
