My brother and I have just finished doing a motor swap into my T2 and this is our first time trying to start her up. She turns over, but won't crank. Possible Reasons?



1, the fuel pump makes a short buzz sound, whereas in my brother's car who has the same Walboro 255 I do, it buzzes longer.



2, I have a Viper alarm system and for some reason when the fuse for it is in, the alarm goes off and there's no way to turn it off, even by pressing all the buttons on the remote. But, if I leave the door open, turn the key to ON, and then close the door, the alarm goes off. It's like...backwards.



3, The reason I brought up the alarm is because when the fuse is in, the car won't even turn over.



Would the alarm have anything to do with it not starting even if we disconnected every single plug from it?



The car doesn't even putter, which would tell you that SOME gas is getting to the motor. The gauge reads about a 1/4 of a tank, but the warning light for low fuel is constantly lit.



Any other ideas that might answer why it seems like the motor isn't even getting enough fuel and putter?

Sounds like there is an electrical gremlin in there. If the wires for the alarm are still installed but they are disconnected at the alarm they may not be completing the circuit, because the alarm does that when it is working. Measure the voltage to the pump when in "ON" position and when cranking. Also check for spark by pulling the plugs and putting them near a good ground where someone can see the spark.
