When you go to start the engine, it sounds like it may start but it doesn't. I have done that EGI fuse thing a couple of times and there usually is a lot of smoke and gas fumes but still does not start. Can anyone help me? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

I think this is happening to me too! When you talk about smoke, do you mean that when its cranking it is spewing thick white clouds? I believe that the engine is flooding. I notice this after leaving my car parked for a while this will happen. If i keep cranking not letting up eventually she starts and never has this problem agian until i park for a while. I am replacing the starter soon because I have problems with it and may help cure this. Im going to try to clean injectors to figure out if its a leaking one that is causeing the problem. Good luck I keep you in mind if i find anything.

your water seals might be bad, white smoke is coolant/water burning away

the car should start with no probelm. check if you are burning coolant.

on the cold engine pull the radiator cap then start teh car, see if it bubbles, its

normal for the coolant to move around a tad but it shouldnt bubble is it does your

water seals are toas and u need a rebuild. if u keep driving your water temp will

eventually get higher and keep overheating the engine.

wopa20 05-25-2003 12:35 PM

No dosent do that..... White smoke is a signal for burning coolent, yet i believe a severe flooding will also cause white smoke. The smoke smell strongly of gas.

So if it is flooding, then how would I solve this? I've cleaned the injectors and tried that EGI fuse thing and I have a new starter. I had that buzzered come on and I put some coolant in it and it stopped. The car has been sitting for almost a year too. I may have to change the oil because it smelles like gas. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

might try this http://www.mazdatrix.com/c-bleed.htm

This car still will not start. It is starting to get frustrating. I have done that MMO oil thing and all it did was smoke real bad, but not start. I have also done the EGI fuse thing and it did not work. Can anyone help me? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

try pull starting it behind a truck at like 20 mph. your problem is most likely a leaking injector

guyverx 06-02-2003 08:12 PM

i have the exact same problem i think. white smoke of gas smell. engine sputters but dosent fire off. ive done the egi unflooding, ive done the spark plug removal/turn engine unflooding to. then i try again and more white smoke smelling like gas and no fire. all this after my exhaust blew up or clogged, or my engine went bad https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif im tempted to get a new 3rd geen 13b-rew in it anyway. mabey its time to start looking into it more. but ill keep checking this thread to see if there is something else i can try.

Houston 06-03-2003 10:20 AM

Do you think it mught be a leaking injector? I have already checked the secondary ones, but not the primary ones yet.

Houston 06-23-2003 07:38 PM

How do you tell if any of your seals are broken when your car is not started? And does anybody know if you roll start the car that the seals build back all the compression they lost? Because I think one of the seals are messed up because when I try starting it, all it does is crank and sounds like it sparks the gas, but it does not crank. Can anybody help me? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

If the car is flooded real bad it can be a big PITA to start. The best way is to pull the plugs, clean them real good. Re-install them. Find the conector for your fuel pump, and unplug that. Leaving the pump unplugged turn it over with the EGI fuse plugged in. I ended up wiring up a switch to my fuel pump because it would flood real bad.

SilentRX 06-24-2003 12:50 AM

where is the plug to the fuel pump? my car is doing th esame thing. My boost controller is showing the injector % when turning the engine is 85-100%. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png It should only be 9 or something right? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png the car gets so close to starting, but doesn't. i'm getting so frustrated.

ILUVMY88CABRIO 06-24-2003 02:12 PM

Look under the carpet in the hatch. You'll see the wires coming from the fuel pump. Follow the wires. They run up to the strut tower. The plug should be about half way up the strut tower.

So I tried to pull start this car and it did not work. I can put it in gear and let go of the clutch and it jumps but does not start. I can not figure out how to start this damn thing because it is kind of aggrevating. I need some help someone? I am kinda new at this rotor engine too, so I could be missing the basics. And for some reason the trailing spark plugs always get this black gas on them, but the leading ones don't.

Houstonderk 07-16-2003 12:18 PM

Could the exhaust have anything to do with running, because mine is badly messed up and when it smokes, it has this smooth smoke line come out of the exhaust.

FCmaniac 07-16-2003 12:29 PM

Damn, you have a lot of probs.. so you tried every possible unflooding procedure and your plugs still have gas on them? Are you sure you have spark? Did you check the compression at all? no use wasting your time if the engine is gone... hopefully not but worth a check

Houstonderk 07-17-2003 11:43 PM

Yes it has spark because i took the spark plugs out and put them on the side fender and hooked them up and the shocked the crap out of me! So how do you tell if the motor is gone anyway? Plus I might have to check some other things because someone told me it might be the MAS under the intake.
