Last week I went to go starrt my 87 n/a and it decided it wanted to turn over but not start. Thenn I smelled gas so i figured that it was flooded. So I put the gas pedal to the floor and tried it agian. This is what ive been told that is sopposed to be done when the engine is flooded (I flooded it once before and this worked) but this time i didn't. So I figured i just wait a while and try it again. So i took my T2 out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif Anyways when i got home i tried it again and i still wouldn't start. It turned over but it just wouoldnt get started. So over the last week Ive been tryin to start it about 2 times a day and i got the same thing except no matter what i did i would always smell gas out of the exhaust. To my knowledge the car has never run rich before. Yesterday I checked the spark plugs to see if they were wet with gas and i checked the wire that is ubder the airbox and they were both fine as far as i could tell. I'm thinkin it might be my injectors??? or my ignition???? any help you guys can provide is apprecieted.

It seems that ever since I got the T2 in December that my N/A has been jealous and been giving me problems. Before this happened my speedometer and odometer stopped working and the cable that runs from the transmission to the rear part of the car that controls it cam unhooked and was dragging on the road for a little while I cleaned it and screwed it back in but it still doesn't work I'm guessing a sensor could be broken. Also there is a leak in my vrake lines too. Well I'm just bitchin now so ill stop

first fix the leak in the break lines. and what are the specs on ur motor?

you should pull the plugs and pull the EGI/EFI fuses and crank the engine

over in 10 second intervals to spit out that gas. Flooring the pedal doesnt always

work. Afterwords you put the plugs back in, but leave the fuses out, crank it

until it sounds normal again, put the fuses back in and try starting it, if it

doesnt start right away stop cranking it and pull the fuses again.

Repeat until it does

start, you can also reach under the dash to the right of the steering column is a set

of 6 wires with a yellow plug on one end, pulling that plug when the car doesnt want to start

is another way to stop the flow of fuel, the car will start with that plug pulled

from the excess fuel, when the car starts up just plug that plug back in, if

you manuever yourself right you can work the plug and the key at the same time

using both hands. Then change the oil.

When these cars sit and the batteries get low and just from not running they

have that problem until you drive them a bit.

Pur ATF in the combustion chamber when you first take the spark plugs out when you do that, then crank the engine over it will smoke very heavily but only for a couple of minute. Just think of it this way you killing all the bugs within a couple square miles.

The EGI/EFI fuses are the ones in the engine bay next to the drivers side wheel well rght?? and also how many fuses are there? I saw 2 I just wanna make sure. Im not really interested in doing something wrong or missing something and screwing up the car even more

Rob x-7 04-06-2003 04:47 PM

yes, I like to pull both of them.

This process worked for me. 3 sets of new plugs and alot of cleaning and it runs great now.

Apollorx7 04-07-2003 12:20 PM

Alright im gonna give it a try. I wanted to do it today but this snow **** is startin to make me mad. Ill try it whenever it gets nicer out and see what happens

CrazyAssRX7 04-07-2003 12:54 PM

oh for your speedometer cable

you will need another one, you cant just hook it back on

this happes to a lot of 7's

just get a used one and then do the hookin up

pretty simple 20 buck fix
