My rx7 will not start!!! I replaced the fuel filter thinking it was due to lack of fuel getting to the motor and also because the fuel lines felt as if there was no pressure inside them. Well, now they do have pressure, but it still wont start. When i try to start the car, it just cranks, nothing more, nothing less. After i try to start it, i go to the exhaust and can smell fuel fumes. Any response and help would be great. thnx https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

Your probably flooded. The "FAQ" is a good place to find procedures on how to un-flood.

Confirm you actually have spark before trying the "un-flood procedure".

I tried the un-fludding instructions from the FAQ page. The car just barely started for not even a whole second, then just died again.

I tried un flooding the motor. It started for not even a whole second then died again... :/. what you think is the problem?

Weak battery? Needs tune up? Leaky injectors? You shut it off while the engine was cold? All the above? I dunno, you kinda have to be there to diagnose something like that.

Sometimes you need to unflood a couple times for it to work.

the battery is extremely weak. it took it to autozone to get it charged, and when i got home with it i immediately put it in the car and tried it. And it cranked well for like 5 seconds then started to struggle again. Could that be the problem?

Thats one thing these engines dont like, a slow cranking speed. Get an new batt, and make it a good one. No Valuecraft or Wal-Mart brands.

It pains me to say it, because I am definitely not a fan of Wal-Mart, but their house-brand battery (Everstart?) and Autozone's Duralast are often listed among the top performers in Consumer Reports' testing. Cold-cranking amps are cold-cranking amps.

I used to think that the alternator would provide all the voltage a car needed to run, and if the battery was dead you could just jump it and be on your way. Not true. With EFI, a dead battery will not allow the engine to run correctly (or at all). Start with a fresh battery.

If this car is new to you, or if it hasn't run in a while, try putting in a fresh set of plugs also.

Hey, thanks for all the feedback. I am going to buy a new battery here soon, and i have just recently replaced the plugs with new ngk plugs not even a month ago.
