Ok here is a little back story, bought the car, had idle issues, previous owner had put in an MSD ignition, re-wired/cleaned up all that. Since then the car ran a bit rich, but that seems to be common.

moving on, it has had a bad warm start issue, it would normally start right up after sitting for some time, but no matter how long it ran, weather 1min or 30, after i shut it down it would not start at all.

This past week i replaced my brake master, and have not tried to start it since, and now, nothing, it seems like i am getting no spark, but at the same time i cant hear my fuel pump prime at all. there is a large quantity of fuel coming out of the exhaust as i crank, and it will sputter a little every once and awhile, but no signs of starting.

This is my first venture in the rotary world, so im as lost as could be.

It's heavily flooded.

You need to jumper the yellow connector near the pass. shock tower and turn ign. "on". Then you should hear the fuel pump.

If it's flooding, obviously the pump is working. It's just flooded to hell.

it could be a number of things.. could be leaking injectors, shitty spark plugs, plug wires, etc etc

only thing i can suggest to you at the moment until you figure out whats causing it, is to just use the Deflood procedure.

Remove your fuse box cover, and take out the EGI fuse, i believe its the first 30amp fuse in the block, Goto the car and turn it over for a good 15-20 seconds. Afterwards plug the fuse back in, and try to start it. It should fire right up.

Also rotary motors DO NOT unflood themselves,

hey bro, just letting you know I have the exact same problem over here in New Zealand, also my first rotary. Mine does this EVERY ****** TIME I stop and can be a major inconvenience

rotangclan 08-31-2010 01:17 AM

oh and i fixed mine by doing what that other fella said, take out the EGI fuse (mines the fuse closest to the engine) and turn it over for 15 seconds or more WITH YOUR FOOT FLAT DOWN then put the fuse in, keep your foot OFF the gas, crank it, and it should fire up immediately.
