Just like what the title of the thread says...

A 5-10 minute drive without going over 3k rpm wont even bring my temperature up to C on a cool day...probably has everything to do with the TB mod I just performed.

someone before you might have removed the thermostat. i seen a lot of people do this to rx7s. also, did you upgrade to a big electirc fan that turns on as soon as you start the car instead of when the car gets hot? thats what i did, the car stays cool longer...

oh, and it could be a small problem if your running a stock computer. cause your car was built to run at a certain temp. changing that temp. is not good without tuning.

also, does your car smoke? running rich could cause it to be overly cool.

i wouldnt worry though, as long as your not over heating. dont sweat it.

It is running rich mainly because of the 5th and 6th's not opening (so I've been told)...I'll check the thermostat. I'll see if the problem persists after I fix the port problem. If that doesnt than I'll see about getting a wideband o2 sensor which I want to get anyway after I get a header for it.

It is still using the clutch fan for now.

Rx7s warm up pretty quick. Either the thermostat has been removed, or thermostat has failed. When they fail, they fail open so that your engine won't overheat.

open the hood and make sure it's a rotary.

spark plugs should be on the side.

So I had a look today to see if the thing under the hood was in fact, a rotary...

The first thing I noticed is that it's not one of them hondur motors cause there be no H under there and the motor actually seems to produce power! It aint no Ford motor cause you cant hear the sound of lifters clattering away like clidesdale horse hooves on cobblestone roads...so it's definately not one of those. It gets pretty good gas mileage but takes 75 dollars in fuel to fill and doesnt get 75mpg up so it's not a Hybrid...

To make for certain it was a rotary I had to see if it this gas mileage problem can go away, so I took the car out on the highway and dropped gears to 3rd and proceeded to mash my foot down onto the accelerator...success!!!

The problem did go away once the pedal was firmly to the floor and within 5 minutes 1/8th of a tank vanished into thin air!

I guess the thing is working just fine.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.gif Only 1/8th? Better open that hood again, something's very wrong there. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.gif

Crap, I gotta call Travis about that E-Test and where you can go to get one cheap. :X

removing the thermostat without plugging the bypass, lets all the hot coolant bypass the radiator and stay in the engine. temp guages wont see it either.

if you're not running the correct thermostat, you need to plug the bypass.
