If I do a reline pull and then quickly come to a stop I am greated with a big cloud of white smoke. It clears up in about ten seconds. any thoughts ? I'm running 100 to 1 premix. stock ecu.

thanks for the help

Dave

What you describe sounds like a high-vacuum oil blow-by(suck-by), but that would be blue smoke. White would be coolant.

smitty 03-26-2005 09:03 PM

what would cause the high vacume and what is the cure. I don't think it's coolant .

I have smelled that way to many times. Can you think of anything that could cause a temporary over rich condition.

thanks

do you think you blew a coolant seal?

Seppuku 03-26-2005 11:47 PM

probably coolant seals starting to go. Under high rpms there would be more chance for them to leak thus cuasing the smoke.

HeffSpooled 03-27-2005 05:17 AM

Overfueling would be black smoke.

Are you burning an extraordinary amount of oil?

FikseRxSeven 03-27-2005 05:23 AM

could just be blow by since its only at high rpm and high boost. are you losing coolant? or oil?

oh yeah.. abruptly stopping causes very high vaccuums

thanks for the input I'll keep a close eye on my fluids an see what comes up missing. Let me guess there is a rebuild in my future.

Thanks

sounds like what happened with my hubbys 87 GXL... as i recall it was the oil control rings, but it wasnt really white, but it wasnt really blue either..

only happened when he did a high rev and then hit the clutch... was good when people tailgated..

Shane.Trammell 04-02-2005 12:39 PM

could also be tranny fluid or oil leaking onto exhuast or something and burning off.

I went to the track last week the car only smoked once. If it is the oil controll seals should it last for a couple more track days. My plan is to get better tires and not let off the gass.

its not oil control rings, youd know by the amount(loss of) of oil, sounds like coolant to me, watch your coolant. you change the coolant recently?

smitty 04-05-2005 10:13 PM

The coolant was changed recently. You guys are not helping I'm trying to deny that its coolant. Of course its coolant its always coolant. I wanted to port it anyway.

Dave
