Ok so my friend and I were driving my car and he already has owned an rx7 fpr a while and he said my car was running rough and it could have been misfireing. Would it just be the spark plugs and wires or what, I was wondering how could i fix the misfire or is it even missfire if my engine runs rough in the higher rpms, if you could help plz. Thx

Try adjusting TPS, the A/F...check timing too...vacum leaks...etc...

What RPM is it doing it at?

drunkin_idiot 02-17-2004 02:23 PM

well if u saw an earlier thread i was complaining about hight idling(about 2000 somethimes 2500rpm) but it rides rough in the higher rpms, i havnt fixed my idling problem either.

Just outta curiosity, have you looked at your airfilter lately? Its not melted or anything, is it?

Ha! I was just askin' cause mine melted into my AFM and the AFM wouldnt move much at all...and my car did the same **** your talkin about (except the high idle)

drunkin_idiot 02-17-2004 02:39 PM

S anyways besides that o you know what it could be?

drunkin_idiot 02-17-2004 05:59 PM

If you had an idle problem I would focus on the throttle position sensor(s) (TPS)

drunkin_idiot 02-17-2004 06:35 PM

ok cool so then i fix the tps by turning that screw right? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

turnig the springloaded screw is part of it. It helps to have a means to adjusting the screw, being the test lights and/or an ohm meter to check resistance in the switch its self. You should invest in a manual or find one online to refer to. The explanations, pictures and wiring diagrams make repairs fairly easy.

Anything much higher than idle is beond the scope of the TPS. The TPS would throw off idle and partial throttle. When is the last time you changed the plugs and wires? Did timing? TPS?

Dramon_Killer 02-17-2004 11:06 PM

TPS would be the first thin i'd check. And the LED lights dont do ****. It said my car was fine with the LED's, but when i plugged it into an voltimeter i was reading 4 instead of 1 ohm at idle, way off.

drunkin_idiot 02-17-2004 11:55 PM

Ok i did the LED light thing and i agree it dont do **** so with the voltometer where do I plug it into to test it or can u give me steps to doing it.
