iF I BUY A mSD ignition system will that stop my car from flooding or should i just buy platinum ngk plugs?

rexguy 09-08-2003 02:39 PM

hey, more spark might help ya out, but if your flooding its a fuel problem, either in your throttle body, fuel injectors, TPS.......I know that my FC had the TPS go out, and it would flood the hell out of it, so I ended up replacing that and replaced my injectors. It worked, athough I wasn't sure exactly where the problem lay, be it bad injectors as well as the TPS. NEwho hope that points you in the right direction.

probably your injectors are leaking or you have low compression

I concur, and I add that you might want to have it checked out

by someone to adjust the timing,TPS,Idle mixture, etc..

But first I would do a compression test.

Also make sure your battery is in top shape, by flooding do you

mean on start up? A occasional flooding on start up isnt that bad, maybe you are turning the car off before it gets a chance to warm up

then its giving you a flooding issue?

well the first time it flooded was cause my battery lost juice and i guess also spark. Then when i removed the plugs they needed to be changed and so did the wires. But now i got new plugs and wires and a Optima Battery. I was thinking that maybe it was my injectors but i dont know how to check em out.

Oh i dont know if this is associated with my current dilema but sometimes when i start the car ( very often) the idles jumps up and down like if its about to shut off but it jumps up right before it goes too low. If that makes any sense. Thanks for the advice everyone.

that idle jump happens now and then, no biggie, just tap the gas pedal to even it out, im sure there is a sure fix for it, but for the rare occasion that has happened to me I just give the gas pedal a slight tap and its even steven

YEAH IT HAPPENS ONCE AND WHILE BUT MORE OFTEN THAN THAT ( REDUNDANT). i TRY TO EVEN IT OUT BY PRESSING THE GAS AND HOLDING IT AT 1K.

no need to hold the engine at 1000 rpms, and no need for the caps either.
