OK I just read a thread that said somthing about the famous hot start problem could anyone define what this means. My car does this it cold starts good not much smoke clears after about 15-20 seconds on a warm day on a cold day it last longer. When the car has ran for about 1 minute or so and you shut it off and start it again it starts the best and the fastest. But when you start it when it is at running tempeture it is the hardest to start. You have to hold the key over for about 6-8 seconds and then it will start.

I don't think it is flooding I have had all four injectors fully cleaned and serviced, and still does anyone know what the famous hot start problem is

Its hardly famous, I have actually never heard of any of the problem.... Maybe its vapor lock, how hot is it where you live?

Well I live in SC I think it's really hot but in the summer it is about 80's or so. right now it is probably 60'-70's or so

Your Residual fuel pressure is bleeding back into the engine after you turn her off.



This is causeing your engine to flood repeditivly. You could be cheap, and wire up a 'switch' for the fuel pump. when you go to turn your car off.. flip the switch off to kill fuel.. and the engine will die... than take the key out.. and be on your way. When you go to start her, put the key to 'ON' than put the switch on. Wait about 10 seconds for the system to prime it self... than start the car like normal





Check out Mazda Trix.com They sell a little gimmick that goes inbetween your fuel lines... when the car is shut off the pressure (air) bleeds out thru that. What's happening is the tips of your injectors are prolly old.. And when the car is shut off, there is still quite a bit of residual pressure in the lines. the 'Closed' injectors can't hold the pressure and drip,drip,drip into your engine. Flooding it.



I think that about sums it up. Or i could be wrong. just my 7 cents.

Well I guess it is flooding just not bad enough to do any unflooding techniques, I'm asuming new injectors would fix this problem to, and I have seen mazdatrix little gismo it said that it is a tempory fix not permenant. Also if I do try to buy new injectors does anyone know were the cheapest place is to buy them.
