What will i have to do? de-compress the system etc, etc?

ColinRX7 04-21-2004 11:44 AM

You should take the car to somebody who can discharge the system before you start taking lines off and such..

Just loosen a few lines a little and come back in a hour. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Yeah. When you take it to a shop, get them to pay you for the R-12 they take out of your system. Last time I bought some it was $50 for a 12-oz. can.

If it was me, I'd just loosen it up and let that sucker hiss.

There's a write-up in the FAQ section, here.

It found it very easy to do. The hardest part for me was the last line I removed, the fat one that is clamped under the battery. I ended up breaking my battery tray.

My friend tried doing the same thing on his 240. He said that his garaged was fogged for 2 hours with all sorts of lovely gases. He said that he took a hose off and then it was like WWI with all of the freon coming out. The idiot closed his garage since he didn't want the neighbors to see. He finally vented it out by opening up the back door which leads to the back yard. He said it was like the garage had been hot boxed for a week.

I had problems with the pipe under the tray also. Good thing I didnt have a tray then. I just liked how easy it was to do compared to my MR2. That was a bitch to do.
