Hi everyone, i'm new to this forum, and so far it's about the best one i've seen around for rx-7 information. I'm interested in buying a 1987 rx-7 that has close to 90-100k miles, new tires, all new fluids in the engine, 5 speed manual. it needs some front body work and a new radiator, the guy is asking $500 for it. I'd like to get it maybe for a project car, but i'm wondering what immediate problems I may run into. I'm not real familiar with rotary engines (i know the basic concept of how they work), but i'd like to learn more. Any help would be greatly appreciatied for a newbie!

Sounds like a pretty decent deal for that price and think about how much you will learn for $500! Does it actually run, have you heard it run? Rotary's sometimes go to **** when they sit too long.



Other than that pretty much the usual stuff with buying any used car are to be expected.

$500 u can't go wrong.

it needs a new radiator before it will run, it's only been sitting for a month or two, and i'm going to look at it tonight. The guy says once it gets a new radiator he guarantees it will run (he's a good friend so i'll take his word)

Yea, Vosko knows all about good $500 car deals <_< but anyways, lol. For the price, the car sounds worth it. You'll of course need to do some tune ups, etc...it will probably crank a little rough when you first try to start it becuase of it sitting. Being an '87 you'll want to look out for flooding('86 to '88s have this problem w/ higher mileage). Its easy to fix flooding though...other then that...enjoy it. For $500 you can't go wrong.

i went and looked at the car, the front end was wrecked into the back of a pickup truck with an extended tow package with a big trailer hitch ball... but i got the car for $375, it needs a new radiator and some minor plastic-engine stuff (not sure what to call it), is it still a good deal ya'll think?
