well, it was a fun night and i had some good runs with few problems. on my last run, i dropped the clutch a little too high and got mad wheel hop. the result? broken diff mount. oh well, i'll have to live with the thud till christmas or so.

on a lighter note, i my best time was:

9.132 @ 78.6 mph

i'm happy, i killed a lot of V8's, so it was time well spent.

Get a competition unit or weld it in..

RX7Aggie 10-01-2003 11:11 PM

yeah, i'll go with that mazdatrix comp one, i'll just need to find some time to replace it

I have one, Ill sell it to you cheap PM me.. I've got the comp unit installed https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

RX7Aggie 10-01-2003 11:23 PM

which one are you selling, your old stock one or a competition one?

vosko 10-02-2003 12:27 AM

that's not too bad...

FCmaniac 10-02-2003 08:49 AM

That MPH should be good for around high 13's at 95-100 in the 1/4 if you get better 60' times.

vosko 10-02-2003 08:59 AM

more like 14's...

FCmaniac 10-02-2003 09:11 AM

I was just looking through some old timeslips and the one I had 8.76 @ 78.52 in the 1/8th and ended up with 13.80 @ 96.74 (1.80 60'). I know that is a pretty rough comparison.

vosko 10-02-2003 09:31 AM

i did 8.8 and did 13.7 @ 100mph.... that is what i was comparing... he is close to high 13's but .3 tenths higher puts him at 14's lol

RX7Aggie 10-02-2003 10:38 AM

yeah, i need some pratice working on my launch. that's what really gets me.

i started the night trying to slip it, but i'd push the gas too hard and end up just burning up my clutch, filling my cabin with clutch smoke (ahh, dont you love that smell).

after 3 runs slipping it, i gave up and just started dropping it at 4000-4500 rpm. the last drop is what broke my diff.

i'm realizing that turbo cars are hard to launch. drop it too low (i did once), and i bogged down at 3K and had to wait for the boost to build. drop too high, and you get get lots of spinning.

this was my first night ever drag racing (non-street), so i'm still new to it. once i get my mount fixed, i can try more and get the hang of it.

FCmaniac 10-02-2003 12:21 PM

yeah, once you get that comp diff mount, you shouldn't have to worry about the damn wheel hop too much. Also if you have adjustable shocks, set them to full soft rear, full stiff front and get some sticky tires with lower pressure in the back, gut the hatch, etc and you should be in the 13's then.

RX7Aggie 10-02-2003 05:30 PM

yeah, i pulled everything out of my hatch area (tool boxes, sub box, spare tire). i was on 3/4 of a tank though, so that added weight probably didn't help.

still, my launch stunk it up. i need practice, which is gunna be hard to get since i need to fix my diff mount first.

baller520 10-03-2003 01:09 AM

on my 13.8 run I went through the 1/8 mile in 9.059....I trapped at 104 and had a horrendous launch. So I def. think a 9.14 could be high 13's with a good launch.

Heh, sucks about the dif. mount but the stocker ones are bound to crack after a few hard launches. Competition mount is the way to go! Next time I'll have the car in shape so we can tag team the local mustang crowd. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

dontcha hate breaking things. man that sucks

"Get one welded like a gent said earlier" CHEERS!"

vosko 10-03-2003 09:07 AM

i think its funny i ran a faster time with a lower MPH than some people.... its all about optimizing shift points, the launch, everything working together to its max. it doesn't help to have 90psi compression on both rotors either lol

FCmaniac 10-03-2003 09:21 AM

yeah, well you can tell by your 8.8 that had a much better launch. What was your 60'? I ran 13.8 at only 96.7 because of the 1.8 60'. That is so important in the overall ET.

1.91 60 FT.... launched that sucker hard on kumho 712's 205/55/16 lol

you ran 13.8 in your N/A ?

FCmaniac 10-03-2003 09:51 AM

Hell no, lol. That car was all wheel drive. Its not hard to get a 1.8 60' with awd, 15 psi, and a 5500 rpm clutch dump.

ok i was confused. i thought maybe you bought a T2 ??? lol

my plan was to build up this T2... its going slow trying not to spend $10k on it and go crazy like i normally do!

FCmaniac 10-03-2003 09:57 AM

That's cool that you're "back" in 2 gen with us! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
