4 pot calipers, turned the front rotors (couldnt' remove the rears), new hawk pads, and they squeeked. After many miles on this setup, I eventually removed the pads and sprayed the stop-squeek stuff on the back of the pads. That seemed to work for about a day. Now I swear they're squeeking louder than before. Not when going hard on the brakes, but only when normal braking, which is what I'm doing 90% of the time. I'm sure I've been scaring drivers by braking late and quickly, just to not hear the squeek. Any solutions?

squeeking is usually caused by the rotors, it should stop if you can have them turned

welp, guess I need to borrow an impact driver from someone. damn them 2 screws.

which hawk pads are they?
Go to the store, get a 9/16" drill bit, place in drill, drill the heads off you can remove the remaining screw with a pair of pliars. End of story, I spent half a day ******* with those screws and it's not worth it, see the topic I wrote this weekend LOL |
I think the HPS, from the np.com store. might I point out that they stop the car wonderfully.

Funny you should post this. I have had the exact same problem with my new brakes. I had to get the whole brake system overhauled and they replaced the front rotors. The damn think squeaked (squealed like a stuck pig is more like it) so loud it scared everyone around me. If you braked late and pressed them hard, no squeak.
I just had the new rotors turned and so far no squeak. So I would try that and see if it works for you, so far it has worked for me. It has just been a few miles of driving though. Had them turned this morning. |
great, I'll get the impact driver from my dad since it's free, then go to town with the drill if that doesn't work.
I skipped the trying to remove them and went strait to the drill LOL |
several of the hawk pads are metallic or semi-metallic pads and will squeal.... but yes, they will stop you quickly. A warped rotor shouldn't make it squeal.... just shake like hell... if they did squeal before but not after turning them.... they probably had build up on them from pad glazing.
