so basically, i have a poopy single piston 4lug FC.

But the brakes are especially shitty.

The first half or so of pedal travel does nothing at all.

And then the second half has not a whole lot of resistance and even when pushed to the floor doesnt stop too quick.

I still need to get the wheels off and take a look at how much meat is on the pads, but im thinking worn pads wouldnt cause such poor performance so there might be something bigger wrong with it.

Anyone got any opinions?

blow-by in the booster, low on fluid, worn out brake lines, leaky calipers...

my brakes sorta sucked and a new master cylinder fixed it. see if it is leaking

ive got a new master, braided lines, and 4 piston calipers to go into, fc brakes are always mushy

No mushy breaks on my fc....

what did you do? gsl-se brakes always seem to be firmer, and theres not much difference

ive also noticed that when sitting and idling, pushign the clutch in makes my idle go up ~50rpms, and depressing the brake pedal makes it drop 100-200rpm. Any ty-ins with poor performance?

nah, when you push the brakes, the booster is a small vacuum leak

yay finally! where are the pics? i just replaced the booster hose at the hardline to the intake manifold and they feel a tad firmer... it was a crappy hose.

id check the fluid level, normally a pedal that mushy is a leak somewhere, im guessing a possible master cylidner leak.



to check if its the master cylinder, if you push it real fast and it sinks and doesnt stop much let it up and press down quick again, if its stronger now, feels like it built up pressure, you have an internal leak in the MC.



basically you shouldnt have to pump your brakes to build pressure with the car running.



sometimes thats tricky tho because altho it shouldnt happen with a bad booster sometimes it does, which is odd. But of course if your MC is leaking too long the leaking fluid will build up inside the brake booster and eat away the diaphragm....which would kil the booster. but with the booster kill your pedal would be harder to press. bah whatever, disregard this whole last paragraph, im being to technical i my head.
