I'm putting a new brake master cylinder on my '88 Convertible today with a Haynes manual as my guide. Any tips or tricks I should know?

be sure to bench bleed it before you install it.
just fill the reservoir with brake fluid, and loop some vacuum tubing from the outlets on the bottom back into the reservoir, then reciprocate the piston a few times slowly til you have no more air bubbles coming out of the looped lines. Be sure to keep the lines submerged in brake fluid the whole time (may have to add more to the reservoir at some point). This makes it alot easier to get all the air out of the system once it's installed on the car.

dont overtighten the fittings, and use a flare wrench set if at all possible
