Brake issues...

I am on my 3rd '91 convertible and have never had a brake dust or squeak problem until this last brake job. They replaced the rotors and pads (three times... metallic, organic and ceramic), but still squeaking. I'm thinking the shims are missing and that's the squeak issue, but what the heck is the answer to my dust problem?!
Any ideas?

Re: Brake issues...

Dust is up to the brake pad material.

I've never had squeaky brakes when replacing pads and rotors, only when replacing pads but NOT replacing or resurfacing rotors.

Yes, I figured that... guess my question was does anyone know what particular brake pads I should be using... seems I've tried everything, but there must be something that will work!

Thanks

Who's they? A shop that you've paid to do the job? You may need a new shop.

I rarely recommend replacing parts that don't NEED to be replaced, but given the history, you may want to try new brake rotors with new pads and calipers. Brake parts for the RX-7 are not expensive. A quick check of Rockauto shows rotors around $20 each, and calipers in the $60 to $80 range. So even at the high end of that range, you're only looking at $200 in parts.
