I want a BOV! which one to buy though? greddy, hks, apex? give me suggestions and any website links you have to them. rx7.com doesnt sell hks.

also, what about boost controllers? do i have any need for one. manual or digital?

sidewinderx7 10-31-2002 03:10 PM

first off do you have a turbo charged car? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

RXheaven13b 10-31-2002 03:56 PM

You don't need one.

RX7Aggie 10-31-2002 06:08 PM

fi you got the money for a blow off valve go for it. The greddy Type S is a nice kit, and installs quickly. Great sounds too. Profec-B all the way.

1Revvin7 11-02-2002 11:08 AM

i think the hks ss bov sounds the best, its sitting in a box in my workshop. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

rxpower 11-02-2002 11:52 AM

If you don't wanna spend $$ put a stock eclipse one they sound nice. But if you got flow go for HKS

Rotaryman88 11-02-2002 01:25 PM

The HKS SS sounds really nice...and so does the TurboXS RFL-very loud and cheaper then the SS. Personally, I'm going w/ either GReddy or APEXi...I sold my TurboXS and feel like changing now, lol...

Shane.Trammell 11-02-2002 01:29 PM

hks is great. i love em.

ILUVMY88CABRIO 11-02-2002 04:47 PM

I'm using the Blitz BOV. I love the sound of it.

Turbo II FC 11-02-2002 04:53 PM

Ive always been anxious to hear the Blitz bov. Iluvmy88cabrio, do you have the old super sound or the new dual drive bov? Got any vids of how it sounds?

I've got the DD BOV. I was running 13 psi and it sounded great, now I'm only running 7, but it still sounds good. Everyone always tells me how good "my car sounds," I just tell them it's the BOV. Sorry, no vids. of it.

RX7Aggie 11-02-2002 05:31 PM

yeah, guy from class has an eclipse with the stock BOV, he was suprised mine didnt have one stock. anyway, i was passing by him once in town and his sounded like something broke when he shifted, not a smooth hiss or anything, more of a pop.

anyway, what placed deal the blitz and hks. i know rx7.com carries the greddy and the apex.

Rotaryman88 11-02-2002 05:54 PM

You don't have one!!!

You should...I thought all stock rx7s had BOVs...it's called the Charge Relief Valve..it's the little valve between the top of the turbo and the bottom of the stock TMIC...it has a vacum hose running out of it, and another larger hose running back into the rubber intake hose going into the turbo. If you disconnect the hose running back into the rubber intake inlet...and turn the BOV around to face the firewall..it's much much louder :smirk:

Felix Wankel 11-02-2002 06:21 PM

Yeah and then your car won't idle from the huge vacuum leak you just gave it.

Buy a boost gauge before you buy a boost controller. Especially if that is your complete mod list.

RX7Aggie 11-02-2002 06:56 PM

i have an autometer boost gauge. yeah, i was wondering about that contraption that is between the intercooler and the intake. i figured it might not be a BOV since all the pressure gauge lines run off it.

Turbo II FC 11-02-2002 08:00 PM

Man, not Autometer! Hopefully yours reads right but ive never known anyone with a Autometer boost guage that reads correctly. Usually theyre off like a couple psi. Remember, you get what you pay for! Those Autometer guages are like 60 bucks arent they?

RX7Aggie 11-02-2002 10:12 PM

it was already on the car when i bought it. when turned off, it read like 1 psi. dont know how accurate it is in a linear fashion. good enough until i get enough money for a dual pod mount and two new gauges.

RX7Aggie 11-02-2002 10:14 PM

i like your avatar, nice pic of dual exhaust fire shot. that your car?

Yes sir it is! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Thanks, I appreciate it. The Racing Beat full exhaust tends to blow flames. Well about that Autometer guage, thats good then because we all know that anything free is badass! This post reminds me that I need to get a blow off valve too!

RX7Aggie 11-04-2002 01:04 PM

if i have a "charge relief valve" do i even need a BOV?

$200-300 is a lot for a cool sound.

Turbo II FC 11-04-2002 01:52 PM

You dont "need" a bov. The only time you will need a aftermarket bov is when you are running a bigger turbo. If your staying with the stock one, you should be fine with the stock relief valve.

RX7Aggie 11-05-2002 04:22 PM

ok, so i have determined that i dont need a new BOV and the stock bypass valve will suffice. however, i do like the intimidating sound of an ungraded BOV, any way i can make mine louder, possibly have it discharge into the air and not the intake pipe, and still be just as functional and reliable?

someone suggested turning it around, but someone else mentioned this would cause a leak.

dumarjo 11-07-2002 08:02 AM

what the BOC make to the car ??? I have an N/A.. Can I do something with the BOV. ???

Doest this make more power to the car ?

thanx

dumarjo
