i just put my engine back together, but there is a couple of things im haveing trouble with..

#1. where does the boost senser hook up to?

#2. on the intake manifold, on the left side(closest to the firewall), there are to 2 lil vaccum line hook ups, what hooks up there?

and i have a s4 NA

plz help

the boost sensor hooks up to one of those open nipples. the sensor mounts on the shock tower

I'm almost positive the boost sensor line connects to the nipple right in the middle of the UIM and right above where it connects to the LIM (nipple is basically in front of sub zero fluid line).. I capped the ones on the back side of UIM when I took out the rats nest.. need to find the vacuum line/emissions diagram. Do you have a FSM or Haynes manual laying around? There is a diagram in the fuel/emissions section that will tell you.

the LIM? are u sure? becuase i thought jus the subzero tank jus connected to that, plus if u look in the manual u can see it heads towards the side of the inake manifold(the vaccum line from boostsenser)

what open nipples? lol i think theres more than 1 open nipple. i think it is one of the two on the side of the intake manifold closet to the firewall, or that one nipple above the LIM, i cant figure out where it connects

some1 with a NA s4 post a pic of the intake manifold

FCmaniac 07-28-2003 11:19 AM

I'm not sure of anything https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I'm at work and just going off of memory... I know there is one nipple either at the bottom of the UIM (like I said near the sub zero "plate") or at the top of the LIM in the middle.

I only have three vacuum lines connected and I'm trying to remember... sorry my brain is **** today.

FCmaniac 07-28-2003 11:22 AM

I forgot I had a pic of my engine in the member's rides thread..

I have it hooked to like I said, the nipple that is either in the middle of the LIM or UIM and right near the junction of the two.

rx7raca 07-28-2003 11:35 AM

can u get that pic?

FCmaniac 07-28-2003 11:55 AM

The pic is in the Member's Rides thread in this forum.. you cant tell by the pic. Here is some info from another post from Pengaru... this is how I hooked mine up and it works fine:

On NA there is a line going from the LIM between the primary injectors, up to the dynamic chamber, you keep this as it is supposed to improve fuel atomization at low rpms. You run your FPR straight to the back of the dynamic chamber, by the BACV and AWS solenoid theres a nipple. Then you take the boost sensor and run it directly to the UIM, near the junction between the UIM and LIM... it's right in the center on the side facing the passenger side of the engine bay.

make sure you plug all the other open nipples, other wise its gonna flood and do all that other good stuff, that people blame on the ecu

what is the fpr? and which side of the chamber is the BACV and AWS solenoid on(looking from the passenger side of the car)?

ok i jus went outside and took a look at the manifold, i was lil confused be4 but i have couple questions...

i see on the LIM there is 2 vaccum lins going to it, then rite in the middle of the UIM, there is a nippe for a vaccum line that i ran to the chamber, u say that is for the boost senser tho,

second question, on the left side of the UIM there are 2 nipples(firewall side) what are those for? these are the nipples that i am really confused about

the FPR is the fuel pressure regulator... the BACV and AWS solenoid are on the back of the dynamic chamber (driver's side above your spark plugs)..

yes, the LIM has two nipples right below the UIM nipple.. UIM nipple is for boost sensor (at least how I have it hooked up https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR and the LIM one is for fuel atomization like Pengaru said.. to maintain an even level of vacuum between UIM and LIM.. other LIM one is for ACV I believe.

I don't know... I can't access it right now but just go to fc3s.org, how-to section, manuals, 86-88 FSM, fuel and emissions non-turbo.... the diagram is in that section and shows you how each line will route.

im not a newb https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

trust me ive looked at the manual for hours tryin to figure out what goes on that left side of the UIM, im thinking maybe one of the nipples on the LIM might go to that cold start thing, for the butterfly flaps, but im not sure becuase i removed that and ported my TB.

jfd3s-do u know what goes on the UIM on the firewall side? theres 2 nipples, waht connnects to them?

rx7raca 07-28-2003 12:43 PM

for the cold start thing i mean the UIM.

FCmaniac 07-28-2003 01:09 PM

only trying to help.. I don't care if you're a newb or Wankel himself! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

check out this thread I found:

diagram

I know you said you looked at this before but I think those two on the back are for the stock TB.

Doesn't anyone have a stock S4 they can look at quick?

this pics is different, i dont know if that pic is for s4 or s5 but i dont remember there being a nipple on the inside of the LIM, on the manual from fc3s.org(thats where i printed mine from) it showsthat hose going to the from the ofthe LIM,

hmmm
